Ocean Spray at Catherine Hill Bay

Ocean Spray is a self catering cottage, which is perfect for couples, families with kids, local and overseas visitors. Catherine Hill Bay (Catho) is unique, one of just two heritage listed villages in NSW. The village consists of a single meandering street with mainly weatherboad miner's cottages adjacent to one another on both sides of the street. Ocean Spray cottage was designed by our architect to reflect the heritage values of the village, while providing modern amenities within an efficient layout. It is set back from the road to the beach, with adjacent cottages providing a sense of security, without compromising privacy. Catho is approximately a 1.5 hour drive north of Sydney CBD. It is less than an hour's drive from the start of the M1 motorway at Hornsby. The property is approx 100m from Catho's pristine white sand surf beach, which is patrolled by lifeguards from October to Easter. The surf club, with public change rooms and showers overlooks the beach. The property is supplied solely by rain / tank water, so water conservation is a MUST! There is a large open plan living and kitchen area which is well equipped for entertaining. It overflows on to the outdoor timber deck with water views. The bedrooms are spacious and have built-in wardrobes and an interconnecting bathroom. There is a second powder room / toilet adjacent to the living area. There is an abundance of storage space and an indoor laundry. This is an entire cottage with carport and outdoor deck for exclusive use of the tenant. We are always available to provide assistance during your stay, either in person or by phone / SMS. Catho is a sleepy village which is very quiet. The beach seldom gets anything approaching a crowd and the lifeguards are extremely vigilant. The only commercial property is the Catho Pub, which has changed little over the past century. There is live music in the courtyard on the weekends, which is always fun. The bistro is pretty good too! The are limited bus services through Catho. The timetable is on the bus stop pole, which is just metres from your front yard. Swansea is appx 7kms away and is less than a 10min drive. All the facilities and services you may need are available there. There are two lovely beaches very close by. Catherine Hill Bay Beach is patrolled and is 5appx 100 metres from the house. Mooney beach is over the headland and a ten minute walk from the property. There are great bush walks nearby. We love the stunning coastal headland walk from Caves Beach to Catho. However, it is a challenging trail with a couple of steep descents on an unsealed track with no handrails. Walking sticks highly recommended if you decide to tackle this walk!
