Originally built circa 1750 , the cottage has just been refurbished and is now open to let. The cottage is nestled right on the edge of Corfe Common , where you ( and maybe your pets) have full access to at all times. You can walk to the centre of Corfe Castle village within ten minutes . You will have your own private entrance and will have a small patio area ( sunny in afternoon and evening )where you can enjoy drinks and maybe a barbeque. Otherwise you can always wander into the Common and find yourself a quiet spot. So far we have let the cottage out to friends - all have commented ( without encouragement ) on the “atmosphere ” and acoustics created by the thick Dorset stone walls , the wooden clad ceiling and the soft north light filtering through the predominate gable end window. There is no access to the glazed balcony , the table , chairs and lights are purely decorative . The wall mounted swivel TV is Wifi connected with a separate Bluetooth speaker system so you can stream music, watch Netflix , I Player etc . But, you will need to log in via your own account. The wooden staircase to mezzanine is a bit steep . Down stairs there is a wet room with hand basin and a separate toilet with small hand basin . Parking is available for two vehicles and possibly a trailer . Please do remember that you are next to the Common , so you might see the odd deer crossing the drive and you will get a varied selection of insects flying in and around the cottage . Bring a torch as there are no street lights at the end of our street. Feel free to use the log burner , first few baskets of logs are free. Basically, you can use this place as a base or just rest up , gather your thoughts or forget them even . We, the Hosts, live next door but you will be left alone. If you need help just ask .We are quite friendly . Please avoid using back door (unless using it for a fire escape )as this leads onto Host’s private patio. No access to Hosts garden next door .Guests have access to front driveway of cottage and south facing patio outside cottage . Please check with Hosts for parking area on arrival as this is part of the Host’s driveway and other vehicles need access to it. We, the Hosts, live next door but you will be left alone. If you need help just ask .We are quite friendly and able to give advise and practical help if needed. Corfe Castle village has its own bakery , a well stocked local store with post office , tea rooms and a good selection of pubs with beer gardens serving cooked food. There is also a model village with a café and of course there is the castle to visit. Corfe Common is a good starting point for walks across the Purbeck countryside and beyond to the coastal path . There are several stunning beaches within short drives from Corfe including Studland , Kimmeridge, Chapman's pool and Swanage . Wareham is 10 mins drive away , it is a historic market town situated on the river Frome and a base for ferry cruises along the river and around Poole harbour . Swanage is a 15 min drive away and has a 2 supermarkets and also has Ferry cruises around the Purbeck coast.
