Casa Maria de Deus - Room 3

Situated in the center of this little village Casa Maria de Deus will feel like the “casa” you wanted to have. You have full access to all the amenities that I created mostly for my guests. You’ll have a wonderful garden with chairs for picnics, long table for parties, convenient well-equipped barbecue, lounge chairs and even a firepit in a large lawn. It’s not unusual for guests to mingle around the firepit staring at the stars or cracking jokes with people they just met and befriended. This is a large old house on three floors. This listing is situated on the second floor. The lower floor (1st) has one accessible room with private bathroom and shower. The rest of the floor is a large entertainment area with cable TV DVD, books, games and an old piano. The middle floor (2nd) has two guests rooms (Rooms 2-3, two beds each) a shared bathroom for the floor with shower and tub and a well equipped full-kitchen with a large dining table and outdoor access where you can find more tables and chairs. The kitchen has a five burners gas-stove, oven, sink, microwave, toaster oven and dishwasher. A large refrigerator will provide some dedicated space for your own groceries. The upper floor has two more bedrooms (Rooms 4-5) and a shared bathroom with shower and tub. The abundant homemade breakfast alone is worth your stay. Fresh fruits are always available often accompanied by homemade yogurt, cheeses, jams and whatever is on the menu for the day (rotating menu). You will share the house with other guests. Sometimes you’ll have the house or one floor all to yourself, other times you will experience the special camaraderie that comes with many years of making everyone feel included—I was a school-teacher in the United States. The multiple rooms are ideal for families who need privacy but also want to stay close to their loved ones. You might be able to get two rooms on the same floor all for your family—I have had large family reunions taking up the entire house. So come for the bed, stay for… the delicious breakfast, the leisure time in the garden, the amusing stories, the instant friends from all over the world but above all… that warm feeling of being at home. All guests have access to all amenities mentioned, including stove for cooking, refrigerator, garden with barbecue and firepit (if you are lucky, even fresh fruits from the trees). I live at the house most of the year and I will probably be here to spoil you—even if you don’t want to be spoiled. I am an abundant source of local information. I help in guiding daily activities and giving information about trails, hot baths, parks, beaches and festivals. Our house is right next to the church Nossa Senhora dos Remèdios ( which is also the name of our village). There is ample free parking all around the square in front of the house. There are several taverns in the local area and 2 grocery stores that also sell wine and liquors. Parking is free in front of the house. Bikes are stored inside the servants entrance. Buses stop in front of the house. The village is one long street on hillside ridge called Lomba do Loução. The house is on the main square, if you happen to be here during a festival you’d better be prepared to celebrate and behave like a local or you will be sent straight to the superintendent office.
