El Serradell West - Your cottage in Alta Garrotxa

El Serradell is an old "masia" (Catalan country house) which has been divided into two 2-storey appartments for 4/ 6 PAX each. El Serradell is located in a magnificent remote outdoor setting, on a large estate with spectacular views overlooking the Catalan Pyrenees and the Garrotxa to the south. The house is 2hrs away from Barcelona, 1hr away from Girona, Figueres and the French border. Access through 12km of forest road in good condition, you'll have to drive slowly. Typical "masia", or Catalan country house, dating back to the 10th century, but totally renovated in style and comfort. This is your place if you are looking for nature, quiet and the best comfort. The house is totally disconnected from the grid, and uses solar power and biomass for electricity and heating. Water supply from the nearby spring. Each appartment has an independent entrance and independent outdoor areas. The only shared areas are the open-air parking area and the washing machine. El Serradell is located at the heart of the protected natural area of Alta Garrotxa, at an altitude of almost 1000m , surrounded by silence and holm oak, pine and beech groves. Access through 8 km (from Sadernes) or 12km (from Sales de Llierca) of forest road in good condition. It is not possible to reach El Serradell on public transport. El Serradell is almost totally sustainable: solar photovoltaics for electricity, solar hot water system, drinking water coming from natural springs nearby, tap water is collected rainwater, and biomass heating system.
