The house is situated at the end of a private drive, with views over green fields, the sea and the neighbouring island of Pico. The gardens are immaculate and include a shared swimming pool, barbecue and pergola. There are 2 houses on this site - the owners live in the other one. This house accommodates 4 guests comfortably in two bedrooms. A 5th and 6th guest can be accommodated on the sofa-bed in the lounge. It offers a living area with sofas, TV, internet and well equipped kitchen with dining table. The beautifully kept garden and swimming pool offer the ideal location for a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature! At the end of a private road, often the only sounds you will hear are birds or cows. Guests can enjoy the entire garden area, which includes a barbecue, covered pergola with table and chairs and the swimming pool with loungers. The garden and swimming pool are shared with the owners, Luisa and Fernando who live on the property. You can come and go as you wish as you are going to be able to use the house as it was your own. The owners will meet you and show you the accommodation. The traditional Azorean mid-age couple live next door and are available whenever needed during your stay. Fernando speaks English and Luisa is very charming. Fernando is also a taxi driver - very useful if you decide not to hire a car! There is also a bus stop close by. I am always available by mobile phone, should you need help plan trips or making bookings. The village of Pedro Miguel is just 10 minutes by car from the main town of Horta and 20 minutes’ drive from the airport. Pedro Miguel is a rural farming community with three small corner shops and various little cafes where you might meet some of the friendly locals. There is a choice of lovely walking tracks in the area, one of which takes you past a newly established bird watching hide. In the season, a walk to see the magnificence of the hydrangea hedgerows is a must do. The village boasts two small sand beaches about five minutes drive from the house, with a larger one in Paria do Almoxarife, the neighbouring village, where there is also a general store, three restaurants and various cafes. Just 6km inland is a small forest park, Reserva Florestal do Cabouco Velho, with a shaded barbecue and picnic area, great for cooling off after a day at the beach. Horta is a vibrant town with many cafés and restaurants to choose from, as well as a scenic yacht basin at its centre. There is also an impressive ferry terminal where you can catch daily ferries to the neighbouring islands. Many island excursions are available from Horta – you can experience the thrill of whale watching, explore the island on a jeep safari, visit the whaling museum, hire bicycles for a thrilling downhill ride from the Caldeira and many more activities... We recommend renting a car or scooter as public transport is unsufficient on the island. There is ample private parking on the property. The bus stop is located 600m, in front of the church. The bus leaves Horta in the morning 07:10h, at noon 11:45h and 12:40, mid-afternoon, 15:30h and early evening 18:00h (none operating on weekends). If you prefer not to drive, Fernando is a taxi driver, so I can arrange for him to collect you himself, from the airport.
