CEDARS-WILD is nestled amidst a myriad of young whispering deodaar trees, to relax and breathe, offering nice walks or just hammocks to slumber in. An annexe of a heritage property established in 1910, with comfortable rooms & bathrooms, on the highway yet allowing for remote privacy. Forming a convenient hub, two hrs. from Chandigarh, and an hour+ away from Simla, Kasauli, Daghshai, Chail & Rajgarh. We can accommodate 6 guests in 3 comfortable bedrooms. CEDARS-WILD has over a thousand trees and is ideal for private "Shinrin-Yoku" - Japanese for "Forest Bathing". "Shinrin-Yoku means spending more time among trees. No jogging, no workouts, just quiet contemplation near trees". (You will find interesting videos and articles on the net, on the therapeutic qualities of Shinrin-Yoku)! The property is perched on a spur looking upon Simla to the north, and a valley below running west to east. With vistas and views, changing and dancing, in rhythm with the seasons. CEDARS-WILD is approved under the 'Incredible India' homestay program. A private jeep-able track leads up to the property with enough parking space. Guests and luggage can also be ferried from the Highway, or from the Salogra railway station. CEDARS-WILD has three bedrooms. Loggers Room has a king size bed, sofa chairs and a settee large enough to sleep a goodly sized third guest. Cedrus Nook is a cozy room with two beds, facing a young grove of Cedars and opening through a verandah to the East Grove and Yoku Bay. The Hobbit room comes with an ante room and is adjacent to a large hang-out turfed terrace. A small common room with a table (for cards or indoor dining), has a sofa cum bed in case of an additional guest. All rooms are independent through a common verandah or terrace access. There is no room service. The entire place (3 bedrooms) can be also booked for a long stay - week and above - which includes a fully equipped kitchen (nominal charges apply). We try and maintain the habitat as close to Nature as possible and the property is full of trees, flora and fauna. Do not book in case you are concerned about Nature's creatures living in the local ecology and any chance encounters thereof. Common areas include an open-air dining area, Common room, barbecue pit and terrace, beer garden, verandah & patio, a large hang-out terrace and a fully equipped kitchen (optional on booking the entire place-3 bedrooms). And plenty of place to walk and sit amongst the young trees. We also have a steam room to use on a Rs. 500/- per-session-basis (please contact the host for details) The host is around when you are there and available to tell you stories about the place, yet will allow you your privacy and space whenever you want it. In the winters, CEDARSWILD is an ideal base camp from where guests can be taken on short trips into virgin snow, without the frustration of crowds and traffic jams. The host also is available as a local guide to take you to interesting spots in the area in an SUV on a per kilometre basis (pl. inquire for details). Salogra, 8 kms from Solan, was one of the early places where the Britishers tried to grow Tea, albeit unsuccessfully. Gen. Dyer's father built his residence in Salogra while he developed India's second Brewery, 2 miles away, in the late nineteenth century. A quaint Railway Station built in 1898 is a starting point for secluded railway walks through natural countryside and lone tunnels. For the trekkers - Karol Ka Tibba, Gurkha Fort and Chail. Karol Ka Tibba is believed to date back to the Pandavas and is supposed to have an escape tunnel from there to Pinjore, which is claimed to have been tested with coloured water. The trek from Salogra to Karol takes the whole day, though there is a shorter route via Kandaghat. Gurkha Fort dates back to the early 1800s. An initial drive to Dharon-ki-Dhar as base, Gurkha Fort is a two hour walk thereafter, and the imposing citadel is surrounded by dense Himalayan Oak forests. Day picnics to Asni or Girl Rivers are a short distance away. Day visits to Kasauli, Chail, Simla, Rajgarh and Daghshai are an hour or so away by road. Cedarswild forms a perfect winter hub to see fresh snow just an hour away at Simla, Chail or Rajgarh, or even more pristine locations while avoiding the stifling congestion of the tourist rush. "THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING AND I MUST GO." - John Muir Salogra has a quaint Railway Station, with trains going up and down from Simla to Kalka at periodic intervals. A day trip by train to Simla is pleasant yet adventurous. The nearest town, Solan, is 8 km away and has a few small-town eating places. Taxis can be booked in advance. Dhabas dot the entire highway. Salogra is connected with a few interior roads that offer interesting drives into the rural countryside. The host also drives guests around (when convenient) for day excursion trips into the countryside (please contact the host). Breakfast (9-10 am - dining area) @ 300/- per head. (Lunch (1.30-2.30 pm) or/and dinner (9-10 pm), served in casseroles, can be arranged on prior request @ Rs. 400/- per head per meal. (No a la carte choice within full meal - we serve what is cooked at home). There is no room service. There is no credit/debit card payment available. The nearest eating places are: 1. Dhabas - within 15 minutes walk. 2. Solan - 8 kms away (15-20 minutes drive). Local restaurants. 3. ZOMATO. From Solan restaurants. 4. Pinedrive, Kiarighat, Utopia restaurants within a thirty minutes drive. 5. Own kitchen - the kitchen is available for use @ Rs 350/- per day. Guests may choose to get in-house meals OR use the kitchen for personal cooking. Guests using the kitchen would be advised to arrange for their own condiments, spices and cooking ingredients. Vegetables are available at Salogra village - 15 minute walk, or Solan and Kandaghat - 8 km drive each. Chicken and mutton are available in Solan. GUESTS WITH PREVIOUS AIRBNB REVIEWS PREFERRED
