This cute single-storey stone cottage, with its welcoming rustic interior, is a great choice for a family of three to five people. Set in a spacious mature garden, planted with trees and shrubs, you’ll enjoy great views over the surrounding olive groves and forested hills, while your kids will adore the swathes of open lawn where they can run free. And the sun terrace by the private pool is the place to relax when you need to keep a watchful eye on children splashing around in the water. Il Pratino di Solata is a good base for visiting the pretty towns of Arezzo and Cortona, while the cities of Florence and Siena are also within reach. Meanwhile, oenophiles will be able to make the most of the location on the border of Chianti and Valdarno regions – both famous for their great wines – and pick up a bottle to accompany a relaxed family dinner. Make use of the barbecue, or outdoor pizza oven, then dine together on the wraparound terrace or under the gazebo beneath the stars. Our Thoughts We think this cosy, traditional-style stone cottage, laid out across one floor, as just a perfect choice for a small family with a couple of younger children. One bedroom is set up for three kids, the perfect den for a midnight feast. They’ll also love the masses of outdoor space to play in and the fun figure-of-eight pool. The interior is furnished in a rustic, comfortable style and on chillier evenings everyone can cosy up around the fire. Notes Two bedrooms. One bathroom. There are three steps down from main entrance into the lounge. There is no oven in the kitchen, but there is a separate grill. Fire Place: open Pool The figure-of-eight-shaped pool is surrounded by wooden decking and a raised, paved sun terrace, where there are plenty of sun loungers and tables and chairs for relaxation. Next to the pool is a covered gazebo, where you can escape the heat of sun. The water is accessed via metal ladder steps at one end. There is a simple shower at the poolside. Pool size: 9.5 x 6 m, 1.20m deep. Open from May to October, weather permitting
