Violets Cottage secluded country views jaccuzzi
Violets Cottage has been sympathetically refurbished in a modern style to blend with the charm and character of it's rustic walls and beams. It has spectacular views of the countryside, is secluded and private with its own entrance, driveway and garden. Violets Cottage is one of two very private, holiday homes set either side of a barn with beautiful natural gardens and use of the jaccuzzi / hot tub. The owners accommodation is discreetly situated beneath the barn in the centre of the property. Violets Cottage accommodates four guests plus baby in cot. We also welcome well behaved dogs. This beautiful home has the most spectacular views. It is secluded and private with its own entrance, driveway, patio and garden. Violets Cottage could sleep more people but this is not what we are about. We believe the more discerning guest appreciates the seclusion and relaxation of the cottage without it being too crowded. No flop out sofa beds in the lounge here! Through the double doors you enter into the spacious open plan lounge/diner/kitchen. The view is to die for from this airy light room. It has comfortable, modern furniture with coordinating soft furnishings, a flat screen television and a new modern wood-burner (logs supplied for a small charge if required) . All doors and windows have been recently replaced with new double glazing. The kitchen is well equipped with an all electric ceramic hob cooker, full size dishwasher, microwave/grill, fridge with ice-box, separate freezer and all the necessary crockery, glasses and utensils. It also has a convenient breakfast bar and two stools. Up the spiral staircase are the two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and looks out onto the most fantastic scene of the countryside valley with the hamlet of Saint Julien Le Petit beyond. The second bedroom has twin beds and is a lovely peaceful room that looks out at the woods where quite often you will see deer, pine martins and squirrels passing through the trees. The spacious upper entrance and hallway is a multi-purpose room again with a view across the valley. It has a comfy chair with coffee table. A great peaceful place to sit and work remotely online if you need to. A desk, chair and extra lighting can be added to this space if required. Also here you will find the washing machine, cleaning gear and somewhere for your coats and shoes. If you have a baby with you and require a cot there is plenty of space in this area to accommodate it, or it can also comfortably fit into the main bedroom. The full size cot has a mattress but you will need to bring your own bedding & baby towels. Just let us know before your stay if you need the cot and we will make sure it is ready and available for you. We also have a highchair if you need it. (No extra charge for cot and highchair). Off the hallway is the shower room with sink, toilet and electric towel rail. Shelving is provided for spare towels and bedding. Besides the wood-burner all rooms have individually controlled electric heaters. As well as each gite having its own garden, we also have a large shared garden where you will find additional garden furniture and also the Jacuzzi/Hot Tub. It is mostly laid to lawn, edged by shady trees and dry stone walls. Wonderfully natural with stunning views and any time of day you can choose to be in the sunshine or the shade depending where you place your sun-lounger. Each evening you will witness, right in front of you, the most amazing sunsets across the valley eventually fading behind the outstanding views of the countryside and the hamlet of Saint Julien Le Petit. After dark the stars are truly magical as we have no light pollution. Not ready to retire - enjoy your night time tipple relaxing in the jaccuzzi taking in those amazing stars. Although you have a lot of privacy here at Fontchauvaux we are usually on hand if you need help, advice about the gite or about the local area. Violets Cottage is the most private of our two gites and not over-looked. We live discreetly in the sous sol below the barn and you can call us or we can call you on the intercom system that operates between the accommodations saving you any disturbance unless you request it. We are so lucky here at Fontchauvaux, within a short walk 1km we have a lovely natural beach area on the river where you can swim and barbecue or picnic. Across the valley 1km in the hamlet we also have a bar/hotel that serves food lunchtimes and evenings. Quite often they have live music and special food nights - tapas, curry, chinese etc. We are surrounded by countryside and woodland but within a short drive we have lovely villages and lakes to visit including Lake Vassiviere with all its beaches and watersports and restaurants etc. You will need a car to get around. There are lots of woodland and countryside walks right from the doorstep of the accommodation. Great area for cycling - Violets Cottage has a good storage facility for your bikes if you want to bring them with you. For guests who need to work remotely Violets Cottage is ideally set up with fast internet connection and a quiet, peaceful space to set up your computer away from the main part of the cottage. For the comfort and health of all who stay and live at the Fontchauvaux properties (two gites & owners accommodation) we are a completely non smoking site - in the accommodations and all the gardens. Please consider this when booking as other guests may have booked specifically because we are non smoking. We have recently set up our Stained Glass Studio in the old piggery. If you would like, sometime during your stay, we can arrange for a free demonstration (approx. 1 1/2 hrs.) of the copper foil method of this wonderful craft. This is the same method used to make Tiffany Lampshades. If, after the demonstration you would like to have a go yourself, we can arrange another day for a 3 hr session for you to make a simple project to take home with you. The session costs 50€ for one person and 25€ for subsequent persons in the same session. This will include - tuition, materials and use of tools. See also our AirBNB listing for our other gite Honeysuckle House. Honeysuckle House has a more traditional feel as it was the original house to the premises. Still furnished in a modern style but with bigger bedrooms, one with a king-size four poster bed. Covid 19. Both of our holiday homes are spacious, completely separate and private with their own entrances and gardens. The Limousin is in Europe’s top 3 cleanest air locations. The density of its population is approximately 25 inhabitants per square km (in comparison, in Great Britain there are approximately 400 inhabitants per square km and in London, almost 5,000 inhabitants per square km). Precautions we are taking. 1. On your arrival guests will be met outside of the gite socially distancing. The keys will be in the gite door so that you can let yourselves in. The gite file contains instructions about the cottage and facilities. An intercom system operates between gites and our own accommodation, so that you can always contact us for help and advice with anything at all during your stay. 2. Between each and every booking, the gite will have been deep cleaned using cleaning aids and materials recommended for Covid 19 prevention. We use hand sanitiser before entering either gite and there will be hand sanitiser available for your use. We do not employ cleaners, maintenance contractors or gardeners. The clean, most maintenance issues and the gardening are carried out by ourselves (owners - Craig & Karen). 3.The jacuzzi/hot-tub water is tested after each use and has chlorine and various other chemicals added as necessary to ensure it is always safe and hygienic for you to use. The chlorine is a natural sanitiser. 4.The main shared garden and jacuzzi can only be used by one set of guests from either one of the gites at a time unless social distancing is strictly observed in the garden and at separate times in the jacuzzi. This need not apply if the two gites are booked by the same party. These restrictions will be relaxed as the regulations change.
