Stunning Riverside Mill Retreat
A newly renovated mill house on the banks of the River Great Ouse in Buckinghamshire. Perfect for a quiet weekend away or a family get together. Situated close to the M1 and mainline rail stations. Tucked away from the world overlooking a nature reserve, yet close to local towns and amenities. It can sleep 9-10 guests easily but if you need to accommodate 12 a sofa bed could be made available in the playroom. Walking distance to two pubs. No stag/hen or parties please. Ground floor: Our kitchen is the heart of our house, designed to be a comfortable living space for our whole family. There is a large pantry, plenty of worksurfaces and an island. All the mod cons you would expect such as underfloor heating, dishwasher, range cooker, boiling water tap, Sonos speaker etc. There is a sofa and armchair alongside a large table that can accommodate 12-14 guests. There are two sets of French doors onto the terrace so you can easily step outside. Large double doors take you through to the comfortable sitting room with two sofas and two armchairs. There is internet TV, DVD player and a woodburner. The playroom is across the hall with childrens games, Xbox, TV sofas and beanbags. There is a loo and a boot room with a separate entrance, perfect for wet dogs and muddy wellies. There is an additional fridge and freezer in here along with another sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. 1st Floor: Upstairs the master bedroom has its own flight of stairs which leads to a large room with a stunning view, fitted wardrobes and super comfy bed! This leads to an en suite bathroom with separate shower and roll top bath. On the other side of the house are four large bedrooms. Apart from one they are all double aspect so have fantastic light and views! The main spare room is large with an en suite shower room. The remaining three rooms share a family bathroom with shower over the bath. These rooms can all have twin beds. One of the rooms has a large desk too. Outside: There is a large terrace with seating and a gas BBQ. The garden is terraced with potting shed and vegetable patch. The main part of the garden is an island with the river on one side and the mill race on the other - there is a large trampoline, chickens, swings in various places and a children's den. Please note that a large part of the river is not fenced and the property is not suitable for young or unsupervised children. You are welcome to use the space except the small study. A desk is provided in bedroom 3. I will be available to check guests in and out. There will be regular visits to feed the chickens and mow the lawn during your stay. I will make regular contact during your stay to check you are happy. Stunning views and riverside walks. We swim, canoe and generally enjoy the water. The river is listed in the book "Wild Swimming" as one of the best for swimming in Buckinghamshire. If you aren't a bird watcher you might be by the time you leave! We often see unusual birds and varied wildlife. This is an ideal spot for walking or cycling from the house - the Grand Union Canal is close and a pub is there along with another pub in the village, both serve food. There is a canal side gastro pub a walk or short drive away. Milton Keynes is nearby and has almost every amenity you could wish for such as cinemas, shopping, ski slope etc. If you fancy a quiet browse the pretty Georgian market town of Olney is close by with lovely shops and eateries. Stowe, Woburn, Silverstone and Bletchley Park are also close by. Close to M1 Junction 14, Mainline train from London Euston to Milton Keynes, 30 mins and Wolverton takes 45 mins but is 2.5 miles and a short taxi ride away. We are right in the middle of the country so Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham are all within easy reach. There are plenty of good walks from the house which are detailed in your welcome pack.
