Kenmore Cottage - feel at home

Kenmore Cottage - A spacious, affordable, single level apartment (not a built-in under someone's house) in Brisbane's leafy, highly-regarded western suburbs. Our accommodation has a private entrance and every facility to make your stay totally comfortable in this handy location (for the City and Indooroopilly to Moggill and surrounds including Brookfield, Pullenvale, Anstead and Bellbowrie). Unfortunately we are unable to accept travellers in need of quarantining at this time. This is a fully self-contained, private & quiet, garden apartment attached to our single-storey family home. Being a single-storey residence, you don't have the distraction of noise from anyone living upstairs who might disturb your peace and quiet. Built in recent years, this is a modern, contemporary and open plan unit. The single-level apartment is air-conditioned throughout and is accessed by a private, garden-lined path which leads down to your very own front door. Kenmore Cottage is the ideal location for anyone needing access to Brisbane's well-regarded, western suburbs whether you are travelling with a car or using public transport. Public transport is very close so getting around, either to the City, University of Queensland or out to Moggill/Bellbowrie, is very easy. Although this is a very safe area, security screens have been installed throughout to offer you peace of mind. Security cameras are installed around the outside of the house. Also there is an intercom to the main house should you need us. The tasteful décor features some treasured reminders of our travels and includes original artwork by local artists. The living/dining/kitchen area is a light and spacious open plan design . The dining area has a dining table with views down to the park. For your down time, enjoy watching the large flat screen TV (and DVD player), listening to the digital radio or reading from the books offered while relaxing in the very comfortable leather reclining lounge chairs. The fully equipped kitchen has a fridge, a freezer and even a coffee machine. A starter pack of milk, sugar, tea, coffee and incidentals is provided. The queen sized bed is fitted with 1000 thread count sheets to ensure a comfy night's sleep. There is a TV in the bedroom for those who like to watch television in bed and a sizeable ensuite complete with fluffy towels. Beach towels are also provided. There is a king-single daybed in the lounge which doubles as a sofa during the day and a comfy bed at night. Kenmore is located within 20 mins of the city (30 mins from the airport) and is a quiet, leafy suburb with abundant birdlife. Locally, we are handy to venues including Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens wdding venue as well as Pullenvale Hall and Brookfield Hall. We are only 20 minutes drive from St Lucia and Indooroopilly golf courses which are also popular events venues. Kenmore provides easy access to the Gold Coast and it's Theme Parks (45 mins - 1 hr), the Sunshine Coast including Australia Zoo (1 hr - 1 hr 15 mins), Ipswich (20mins) and Toowoomba - gateway to the bush (1 hr 15 mins). Within 200 metres of Kenmore Cottage there are: - quiet bush-walks along meandering Moggill Creek - buses to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, the City and Queensland University (UQ) - hairdressing salon - parks with play equipment - coffee shop Within 1-2km are: - buses to the CBD (every 15 mins) - cafes serving breakfast, lunch and great coffee - shopping centre with supermarket - churches - schools - local shopping centre with all amenities, including a library - fine dining restaurants - pub - parks with play equipment & BBQ facilities Within 10 mins are: - Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you can cuddle a koala, feed kangaroos & see a platypus. You can even have a photo taken with a python or a koala. - Indooroopilly Shopping Centre (one of Brisbane's largest shopping centres) and Cinema Complex. Guests have access to the garden area outside the cottage. This area is only shared by the owners when maintenance is necessary (or vegetables are ready to be harvested). There is access to a shared washing machine on the back patio and the cottage has it's own clothes line taking advantage of Brisbane's great weather. You are welcome to use the shared, covered, back patio which includes an alfresco dining area, BBQ and pool table surrounded by a tropical garden. The Cottage is wheelchair accessible. It was designed to minimise tripping hazards. There is a safety rail in the shower also. There isn't a rail beside the toilet. Wheelchair accessibility is limited to within the unit and assistance would be needed to access the garden or back patio. We are happy to chat over a coffee but also appreciate that many people like to be left to their own devices so we are happy to provide that privacy if you prefer. We are only an "intercom buzz" away should you require any assistance. As long time residents of the area, we can offer advise on places to visit in this beautiful part of the world. We are in and out of the house most days. Peter works full-time and I (Lisa) work from home a couple of days a week as a Beauty Consultant (who can provide facials or special occasion make-ups if required). Molly the dog and Maddison the cat live with us. These are mainly inside animals so your interaction with them is minimal unless you are an animal person, in which case, they would be happy to spend time with you. We are very proud of the fact that we have several guests who return year after year and a number of our guests have chosen to keep in contact with us after their time at Kenmore Cottage; especially the guests who have moved to Brisbane. Whether you are visiting from interstate, overseas or from within Brisbane, we know you will feel at home at Kenmore Cottage. Our's is a friendly, quiet and safe neighbourhood. Most of the locals are long-term residents with a love for our little part of the world and happily stop for a chat. Our area is nestled amongst trees where you can enjoy listening to the many birds who reside here. Within one kilometre from the Cottage is a shopping centre with a supermarket, fashion boutiques, banks, travel agencies, gift shops, jewellers and many, many eateries. We have three bus stops close-by that offer regular buses services to the City, Indooroopilly and even the University of Queensland. Travellers can also access the train which is a short walk from the Indooroopilly bus stop. We have a local Uber drivers and taxis available also. For access to and from the airport, there are local shuttle bus or limousine services available which can be booked on the internet before your trip. They are very popular by the locals. For a very small nominal daily fee, we offer a GPS to help you navigate yourself around our lovely part of the world.
