This fabulous apartment, one of two that can be booked in this elegant, high ceilinged Victorian house, overlooks Barmouth beach, and has been totally refurbished to a high standard in 2020. Coastal Soul (ref UK31915) is set on the second floor and Sea Forever (ref UK31916) is on the third floor; both have views that take in the ever changing coastline from the big bay windows. Just cross the road and you will be on the beach! Within a few minutes’ walk is the town centre with its wide range of shops and eateries, and you can pick up the mountain walk which gives incredible views of the sea, Barmouth’s town and harbour, the estuary and mountains beyond. Coed y Brenin is great for mountain biking, or hire a bike and explore the Mawddach Trail, a level walking and cycle route that crosses the famous Barmouth Bridge and follows the old railway line to Dolgellau. You can stop off here at a pub en-route or wander round Dolgellau, with its fascinating collection of individual shops and coffee shops. Alternatively you can hop on the Cambrian Coastline train for one of the most scenic railway journeys in Britain. To the south are horse riding facilities at Fairbourne Beach. You can also visit the little village of Llwyngwril, known for its annual Yarnbombing Festival, and Tywyn, home to the Talyllyn Railway where you can experience a magical journey on a narrow gauge steam train up into the hills with waterfalls and footpaths at Dolgoch and Nant Gwernol. To the north is a long stretch of sandy beaches at Morfa Dyffryn and Traeth Benar, and then you reach Harlech with its majestic Edward I castle brooding over the town (a World Heritage Site). Beyond here is Porthmadog, home to the famous Ffestiniog Railway, the Italianate village of Portmeirion (designed by Sir Clough Williams Ellis) and Blaenau Ffestiniog, home to the amazing Zip World, providing both the largest zip wire zone in the world, and Bounce Below, the only place where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern.
