Città del Tufo BnB - Room n°2
Our characteristically restored house is located in the quaint, perched medieval village of Pitigliano in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. It is known for its numerous and important Etruscan archaeological sites. The house is nestled in tufo rock. The house has three different rooms—all very quiet and beautifully restored. The largest room accommodates 3 guests (room #1). This room has its own bathroom; the light is great and it provides views from multiple windows. Room #1 also has its own access to the shared garden. One double room (#2) has its own bathroom, and an amazing view from a very large window. The other double room (#3) does have its own bathroom but not inside the room; however, the bathroom is immediately adjacent to it. Our house and garden are perched over the Meleta river, with stunning views of the valley, and its surrounding lush green forest. The landscape is pristine, and from here you can enjoy many moments of relaxation. The house is spacious, and can easily accommodate seven guests total. It is built from volcanic stone (tufo), dating back to the sixteenth century. The entire house has been recently restored. The ground floor has a living room and dining room—shared open spaces to create a unique cozy environment. The beds are very comfortable; towels and bed linen, of high-thread cotton, are provided to all guests. My presence will be discreet, but I will be happy to interact with the guests when they want, and be helpful. We are in what is known to be "Little Jerusalem" just inside the Jewish ghetto, next door to the synagogue. Note that the historic area is entirely pedestrian, and, therefore, very quiet. There are several shops, bars and restaurants with typical cuisine—all very close by. The area offers many options, such as walking to the archaeological sites, immersed in nature—some easily accessible on foot. In close by Saturnia (about 20 km), you can soak in the hot springs. There is a SPA (which is part of the hotel) there, and also free thermal baths. You can also go on guided horse treks to appreciate the natural beauty of the surrounding areas. This area (Maremma) also offers delicious and interesting gastronomic selection. The area is rich in wines, in art and steeped in history. From here you can also reach other areas of interest, such as Pienza, Montepulciano and Orvieto (Umbria). We don't have deprived parking lot and there is no garage parking in or outside the historic district. However, there is plenty of parking available (paid and free). You can safely leave your vehicle in the spaces provided. The closest parking lot is about 150 meters from the house.
