The Artist's Retreat is a stunning studio apartment with king size bed, seating, tv, fully-equipped kitchen, dressing room, a big walk-in shower and private courtyard for outdoor dining. Set on a quiet unadopted road with superb views and parking. A 10-minute walk into delightful Calstock village, with its iconic viaduct over the River Tamar, cafe, two pubs, art galleries plus the acclaimed Calstock Arts Centre hosting live performances.The scenic Tamar Valley railway and Cotehele are nearby. The Artist's Retreat has been designed both for your comfort and as a treat for your eyes. A mix of Scandi and Art Deco, with quirky furniture and a myriad of interesting features. A small but perfectly formed fitted kitchen provides everthing you need for indoor or outdoor dining, in your own private courtyard. Please be aware from the parking space there are four steps up into our garden which is on an slight uphill slant to gain access to the private courtyard and entrance. Please ask if you need assistance. Usually we would like to greet our guests briefly, introducing ourselves and the accommodation. But given the current situation, we can offer a completely COVID-19 safe stay, with no contact if you wish, as the Artist's Retreat is self-contained and has its own separate entrance. For your peace of mind, we remain available to help you settle in, advising on the local area so you can have a stress-free holiday. Set on a little unadopted road with grazing fields to the rear and stunning views from the front garden over the tamar valley to Devon. We share the road with our lovely neighbours, who keep horses, a few sheep and several chickens. Quiet and peaceful, we're only disturbed by the owls hooting! Calstock has a cafe and two pubs, one with seating overlooking the River Tamar, a delicious ice cream palour. Calstock Arts Centre showing live performances and two art galleries, displaying works by local artists. The National Trust property, Cotehele, is a half-hour's country walk away or a 10 minute drive. The area is perfect for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers or those who simply want to relax and unwind. Eight minutes walk away, Calstock train station is on the beautiful Tamar Valley railway. Take a trip over the iconic viaduct to Devon, stopping at the little villages of Bere Alston or Bere Ferris, and where the rivers Tavy and Tamar meet. Continue onwards to Plymouth for some retail therapy or visit the vibrant Barbican marina area, with its cobbled streets, independent shops, gin tour, bars and restaurants. A summer ferry travels from Calstock Quay to the Barbican Plymouth and back. Buses run regularly into nearby Callington, with its mural trail, and pretty Tavistock in Devon, famed for its wealth of independent shops. Please be aware that there are low door frames into walk in wardrobe and kitchen 5'8. No height restriction afterwards, so you just need to duck. There is also a small step up into the walk in wardrobe.
