Northumberland, North Yorkshire and The Lakes are within an easy drive. School Aycliffe is a small peaceful village just metres from a small nature reserve and open countryside, on the border of County Durham and the borough of Darlington, we are in County Durham. Close to Heighington village and the town of Newton Aycliffe. Our village is very quiet, surrounded by countryside. Newton Aycliffe is one of the first new towns build after WW2. William Beveridge, the founder of our welfare state, chose Newton Aycliffe as his flagship new town, he even lived there. Shildon is 2.5 miles away with it’s large railway museum, Locomotion. Bishop Auckland is 5 miles with its castle and new arts centre. Darlington and Durham are 8 and 10 miles. Barnard Castle with Bowes Museum and Teesdale is 14 miles. There are plenty of countryside walking, with the Pennines just a short drive away. Newton Aycliffe has plenty of cycle paths and there are lots of footpaths that lead to open countryside. The railway station is about a mile away. We ONLY accept reservations from guests who have at least one review, (all positive). All guests are required to show a Covid19 passport. Our dogs and cats live here too. They are very friendly and well behaved. They are not allowed in the guest room.
