Independent mountain retreat cottage with private terrace. Restored 17th century farmhouse located in a peaceful mountain village. Spacious & contemporary feel split over three levels with private south-facing sun terrace. Perfect to explore the unspoilt Pyrenees wilderness. COVID-19 We reopen for bookings from mid June 2020 offering much needed space and fresh mountain air this summer. Spacious, self-catering cottage. Sleeps up to 3 (one double, single fold-up bed and travelcot available upon request), Secluded private terrace, wood burning stove, en suite bathroom and fully equipped modern kitchen. Following guidance from the French Government, we ensure a minimum of 12 hours between guests and observe the additional health and hygiene requirements to protect our guests and our local population. The cottage has a separate entrance. Hand-sanitiser is provided and physical-distancing measures are in place. Entertainment. Free Wifi. Sound system, flatscreen TV, DVD player and HDMI leads for iPad connection, Netflix and UK VPN required for iPlayer and ITV player. Excellent kitchen facilities include fan-assisted oven, gas hob, extractor fan, fridge freezer, espresso coffee maker. Please ask if you have any particular equipment requests. Sun terrace includes table and chairs, BBQ, sun loungers and easy chairs. Free access to our outdoor local swimming pool (July/August) and tennis courts. (2 mins walk). Free Firewood. All the wood you need to keep you warm in winter with a 14Kw burner. Art studio space available on request. A slow and secluded sanctuary, perfect for those looking to escape the hectic rush of modern life. Pets are welcome but please ask before you book. During your stay you might be visited by our cats and dogs who are very friendly and love to say hello. Beautiful, wild and free. Surrounded by forest and vineyards, Fosse Las Cabanes sits in a quiet valley. It is peaceful and gentle place full of history and a strong local identity. This region is noted for it's colour. It's a true sensory experience and is ideal for artists, photographers and walkers. Spring is vibrant as the meadows fill with wild orchids and rare butterflies. Autumn slowly creeps across the landscape as the beech, oak and pine forests turn to seas of red and gold and the smell of wild mushrooms is in the air. We are blessed with high summer temperatures in July and August when our local free pool is open every afternoon. Winter is generally sunny and crisp and for those who like to get outside we are 1hr from the lower ski slopes of the Pyrenees. The woodburning log stove burning green oak sourced from our valley will keep you warm if you want to snuggle up with a good book. Snow might arrive in January or February but our roads are well serviced if heavy snow falls. We recommend you hire a car. Free parking is included. The nearest supermarket, bakers and butchers are 15 minutes drive. Our nearest airports and train stations are Perpignan, Carcassonne and Girona serviced by the low cost airlines and regular business flights into Toulouse. The property is 3hrs drive from Barcelona. Smoking is permitted on the terrace and outside spaces.
