The Annexe @ Southgate House, Wincanton

A calm and peaceful oasis in the annexe of a period cottage in the heart of Wincanton, yet just a five minute walk from Wincanton’s shops and restaurants. A stylishly decorated, centrally heated, private annexe with its own independent entrance for which guests will be given a key so they can come and go as they please. Cosy wood burning stove, comfortable L-shaped sofa, TV and circular table and chairs where guests will take their breakfast. Large and airy bedroom with garden view. Double bed , small sofa, with luxurious large en-suite shower room. Crisp cotton bed linen and towels provided. The second bed is a single made up on the large sofa in the sitting room which is quite comfortable.. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden. Ideal position for visiting everything that Somerset and Dorset can offer. Very close to Stourhead and approximately a thirty minute drive from a number of other National Trust historic properties. Montacute, Lytes Cary, Barrington Court, Longleat, Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, East Lambrook Manor and others. Just 15 minutes away from the fantastic Newt in Somerset gardens and restaurant and 10 minutes away from the famous Hauser and Wirth Gallery and Prairie Garden designed by Piet Oudolf in Bruton. 15 minutes from the Bath and West Showground and 10 minutes from Wincanton racecourse. The famous Jurassic coast and Lyme Regis, Bath, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and Salisbury and Frome independent and other local markets are well worth a visit and all within easy reach. Ideally situated for an overnight stay en route to the far reaches of the West Country. Wincanton itself is an interesting small town within short walking distance with a number of independent shops and cafes. Our aim is to make guests feel as welcome and comfortable as possible in the manner which we ourselves would like to experience. You can be totally private here but there is usually someone on hand for any help you may need. There are two friendly young cats. There are a variety of restaurants and pubs in Wincanton itself and the surrounding villages . Local shops , supermarkets . A swimming pool and a park with a brand new cafe. A few local buses and a Berry’s coach service from London are available but for complete freedom your own transport would be best. Nearest train stations are Castle Cary, Gillingham or Templecombe, all a 15-20minute drive away. A luxury continental breakfast is included in the price with fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghourt, pastries , home made jams and marmalade, all served with drinks of your choice in the annexe living room.
