Charming small house Holmenkollen
Typical Norwegian cottage, very cosy in green peaceful surroundings. The cottage was originally built as a stable. Walking distance to Holmenkollen Ski Jump. 5 minutes walking to the metro. See also charming flat at the same property (under host)! This small house was built in Valdres in the year 1850. Originally it was used as a stable and cottage (to get more food) on the way with the animals up to the mountains in the springtime and down from the mountains after the summer. It was then moved to Oslo and eventually rebuilt for housing with warmth in all floors in addition to the fireplace and a bathroom with shower. This house is very close to the enormous woods of Oslo called Nordmarka. You will be sleeping close to a lovely small river basin with the roar of the water except when the weather has been very dry. Most water in it in the spring and in the autumn. There is not a separate kitchen, but a small refrigerator, coffee capsule machine, water kettle and a small oven with two cooking tops. But only water in the bathroom. If you want to wash clothes there is a washing machine you can borrow in another building on the property. Hairdryer is there. We quite often see deer in the garden and of course ants or an occasional spider like in the forest. They are perfectly friendly. You can feel free to use the garden as much as you want. And it is lovely to do hiking in the woods from here. You will find books and maps about Nordmarka and other areas in Norway. We also have access to one of Oslo's most lovely Spas, just 15 minutes walk from here. You can enjoy the facilities for a reduced price if you talk to me first. Please tell if there is anything we can help you with before or during your stay! Please also tell if you have special wishes for checkin hours or for checkout and we will see what we can do for you! A good guide for sights and activities is TripAdvisor and VisitOSLO. From Oslo Airport (OSL) Airport Express Train or normal train to Oslo Central Station. Then metro line 1 (Frognerseteren) to Skogen station. The house is 5 minutes walking from the station. If arriving with car you can park free on the street.
