Join an intimate and caring atmosphere in our rustic farmhouse villa from 1901. We take great notice in the history of the house and letting you in on our journey of refurbishment, from being a farmland to a golf course and Bed&Breakfast service, and invite you to get an insight into our plans for the near future. We invite you to go foraging with us and to pick your own organic vegetables in our garden for your dinner. *** If you would like a good description of the house and the atmosphere, please read the following poem written by one of our guests few years ago! (See bottom of this page!) Also, read the feedback from all of our other lovely guests. They got it all right *** We would also like to point out that we are conveniently located in the midst of all the high lights of our region. However, if you would like ocean view you need a good sense of imagination or look further. We are only five minutes away from the fjord, but are located in the valley surrounded by high mountains. Popular high peak climbs are in immediate reach from our Bed & Breakfast. If you stay for three days or more you may have time to check out some of our "hidden" attractions as well! In our area there is unfortunately not many restaurant to chose among. We therefore offer our own vegetarian, organic and local food servings! If you would like to enjoy our popular dinners, please book in advance before your arrival! In this "plastic fantastic" world that we are living in - we are happy to provide something else. We are having an environmental focus on premises that we hope that you share! We encourage you to stay more days with us and enjoy the facility on our premises. Play some golf on our golf course or driving range, go for an immediate hike, go kayaking/canoeing, fishing in our rivers, or join in one of our local events. RETREAT and enjoy the pace of a slower lifestyle. We are only five minutes drive away from the Geiranger fjord - which is on UNESCO's World Heritage List. A climb in the Geirangerfjord to one of the steep located mountain farms is a must do or chose some of our other popular climbs in the nearby Alps! Our rustic villa is off the main tourist track, but close enough to easily jump back on if you would like. Our concept is a family run business open all year around. We run a 9 holes golf course in the midst of the mountain. The golf course has an easy access from the main road and only 50 meters from your bedroom. We appreciate a good talk and feel happy to be influenced by our colorful guests. During the year we organise yoga classes, therapeutic treatments and self development courses. We accept long stays for clients undergoing therapeutic treatments. We have a focus on ART on the golf course. Each year we invite artists from around the world to come and join in on a project in our annual Art Week in the midsummer week. NB: Our rustic Villa is always undergoing renovation and we have a far way to go before we are finished. We consider the work an everlasting one, an undergoing piece of ART and a lifestyle! Our greatest hope is to be able to look well after the piece of heritage that has been handed down to us throughout generations. The land has been in the family since the 1500, the farmhouse as it is today has been there since the end of the 1800. Your stay with us will contribute greatly; your encouragement and your positive attitude will keep us going. We are taking great consideration into keeping the authenticity of the farm house while doing the required and needed refurbishment. We now have two new bathrooms on 2nd floor and a new well with clean running water for your convenience. In the following years we will have great focus on updating the rooms. In 2017 we will also have added new facilities in the barn where different activities will be held during the year. I 2017 we will also be celebrating our golf course 25th Jubilee! You may be interested in enjoying our signature dinner here: our popular RAW and LOCAL food served in the barn? There are several buss correspondances from Ålesund and Oslo, but plan well ahead. Travelling on the west coast takes a lot longer time than most travellers do expect. NB: The advice from our travellers is to at least stay 3-4 days with us in order to get the most out of your stay! Public transport existing but rare. Suitable for travelers with a car. **** You are welcome to join us in the living room for a good chat, cup or tea/ coffee if you please! If you prefer more distance and privacy we respect your wish. Cheers, Team Hansen-Overvoll ************************************************************* POEM. REF. FROM ONE OF OUR LOVELY GUESTS. YOU - Norwegian Woods You are single, a couple, or a group of fifteen who like staying together in the intimate atmosphere of an 1900 farmhouse. You really don’t mind a bit of nip in the air and clouds above your brow on the eighth, when the rest of Europe is steamy hot. You like to dry your wet socks by a birch-fired iron-side antique-corner stove. You like hand-carved glasses that are not a full set. You worship a banquet of Norwegian breakfast delights, gorgonzola Tilsit and brown cheeses paired up with two types of caviar, three types of fish, farmfresh eggs, four types of bread, and Norwegian jam-filled pancakes. You unwind by a an old six-paned window gazing out at the mountain tree slopes thrusting up behind the grass-covered cowshed roof. You collect blueberries and cranberries and wild strawberries and raspberries and emporium berries near the river and upper mountain slopes with glee. You, escape plastic sterility, seeking a floor layout that is not a perfect 10 x 10 x 10. YOU - The Overvolls are waiting for you in the midst of green meadows and a 9 holes golf course in Stranda Valley, a glacier-cut gorge above Geiranger, the King of Norway's Fjords. Come stay with us in this UNESCO heritage site and enjoy a true respite with other relaxed, creative, generous guests! ***** My husband, my son (6) and myself live in the house as well, on first floor. We are to be reached whenever you need us. Breakfast is served in the living room and enjoyed together with other guests at a given time that we agree upon. Usually 8:30 - 9:00. Please be specific when you order - let us know what you expect and we will try to meet your needs! **** **** Buss services: check out timetables on www. rutebok. no. Destination: Fjørstad or Stranda f.kai Airplane: Vigra/Ålesund **** Nearby grocery stores are located in the centre of Stranda and Hellesylt (15 min drive either direction from the villa) Grocery stores/ opening hours: Mon-Fri (8-22). Sat (8-21). Sun (closed). **** Price given is pr double room. RICH breakfast, sheets and large towels, coffee/tee inclusive in the price. Serving vegetarian, organic, local food! You may order dinner in advance of your arrival. (Nb: not inclusive in the price) We prefer a min stay of 3 nights, having an environmental focus on premises that we hope you share! :) ****
