An orchestra of crickets, cicadas and frogs livens the night at Lost World River Retreat. Toast marshmallows in your private firepit. Gaze upwards and look out for shooting stars and passing satellites. We are blessed with clear skies for fantastic star watching. Guests have exclusive access to the Guest House and it's fully fenced outdoor yard including private fire pit and covered deck with BBQ for alfresco dining. The 25 metre pool and other parts of the property are spaces that will be shared with us. With 6.5 acres of land and nearly 500 metres of river frontage, there is plenty of room to explore and find your own spot for a private riverside picnic and swim. Our home is a separate stand alone structure that is separated by an undercover walkway with privacy gate and fence. We allow guests their privacy but are on site to help you with anything you need and give directions on places to explore. On most occasions I will be present at the property, along with my husband, Andrew, and our 8 year old son, Lenny. Our home is separate to the guest house and separated by a privacy gate and fence, although there is an attached covered walkway that connects the 2 homes. If not present at the time you stay, I will be available by phone 24 hours per day and I'll ensure you have thorough instructions on how to access the guest house and other details necessary for your stay. Lost World River Retreat is located in the Lost World Valley, in the Scenic Rim region of SE Queensland. An easy 1.5 hour drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast, the valley is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in nature. As you drive into the scenic Lost World Valley, it soon becomes apparent why it was named as such. The top of the valley sits below the rugged "Green Mountains" edge of the Lamington National Park. Razorback Mountain and Lamington Plateau form a dramatic backdrop to lush green pastures and the crystal clear rock pools of the upper reaches of the Albert River. We are happy to share directions to some stunning nearby hidden waterholes, which you are likely to enjoy all to yourself. The adjacent valley of Christmas Creek (20 minutes drive) is a beautiful place to explore. You can enjoy a coffee and breakfast at the charming Christmas Creek Cafe, take a scenic hike to Westray's Grave or a more serious hike to the Stinson plane wreck site or the stunning Larapinta falls. You will need a car to get here and to explore the area. Children must be supervised in the pool area and playground by an adult at all times. The pool and facilities are available for guest use but are used at your own risk.
