Everyone has a variety of interests and there will be something available for all tastes within easy reach of this base. We stay in a nearby location and can be contacted by phone or message to provide any advice or assistance required in a timely manner if not sooner. We can also advise you where to find what you are looking for around the local area which can hopefully save more of your time for leisure activities. Mooroolbark is at the doorstep of the Yarra Valley & the Dandenong Ranges. We will provide a good range of tourist brochures, public transport information and local maps for you to quickly plan successful outings. Melbourne city is just a 45 min (approx) train ride away. The Yarra Valley has many quality wineries and small bus tours leave daily from a few kilometres away in Lilydale. You can ride a hot air balloon as well if you book ahead. Local produce is available seasonally and the quality is outstanding. There are many great places to explore and stop for food and refreshments. Healesville Sanctuary is a must see for Australian native wildlife and you can be on your way there with only 1 set of traffic lights to get through for the 20 minute drive. Maroondah Dam is just a few minutes further out, the gardens are outstanding and most worthy of a visit. The trip to the summit of Mount Dandenong is worthwhile on a clear day as it offers the city’s best panorama of Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay and is a pleasant 20 minute drive. You will love my place because of cosiness, friendliness, and the brand new and clean facilities. It is in the top end of a court street, the position is quite high and you will have a beautiful uninterrupted view from the lounge and bedroom across to Mount Dandenong. Off street car parking space is available. Peace and quiet prevail. It is a great place to live as well as a comfortable and convenient place to explore Melbourne’s eastern attractions. In fact the trouble I find in writing here is to cover all the great places within easy reach – I can’t ! Buses connect to all transport hubs and shopping areas. Mooroolbark Train Station is a 5 minute drive to the south. Chirnside Park shopping centre is just 5 minutes drive to the north and has every regular shopping need catered for. Reading Cinemas have 8 cinemas and operate daily there. For the more adventurous there are indoor go carts and ten pin bowling lanes even closer. The recently expanded Eastland Shopping Centre in Ringwood is under 15 minutes drive away and you may well get lost in there as it is huge. It is just 3 stops away by train if you choose public transport. Medical clinics are close by.
