Located on one of Utrecht's original canals, our wharf-cellar-turned-guesthouse "De Witte Leeu" has a truly unique view and location. You will find a comfortable and charming B&B, which gives you an authentic experience in visiting Utrecht. And it's only 25 minutes away from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport! De Witte Leeu is a generous 40 m2, and contains a kitchenette with all you need to fix a snack, a fridge, a microwave, a Nespresso coffee maker and so on. Of course we offer free Wi-Fi and there's a flat-screen television with 150 movies build-in for your entertainment. In the living you find also a sofa-bed for 2 persons. The sleeping quarters with its king-size bed (two box springs) and a small but comfortable bathroom are situated at the back of the cellar. In a separate area at the front you'll find furniture for use on the wharf. Weather permitting you can sit out to relax, eat and watch the boats go by. Also you find 2 bicycles in this vestibule. You have your own private entrance to the B&B and the adjacent "babyroom" with cot and babychair. Of course we do receive our guest with pleasure and we can answer all you like to know about Utrecht or give you information about several things. You can always ask us for information. Utrecht is right in the middle of the Netherlands; only 25 minutes away from Amsterdam. "De Witte Leeu" is located in the centre of Utrecht, in the Museum Quarter and surrounded by a wide range of shops, museums, bars and restaurants. Restaurants, pubs, cinemas and theatres, shops, chain stores, grand cafés and coffee bars; in the Museum Quarter there's something for everyone, every budget and every taste. Utrecht is a happy hunting field for culture vultures. Film buffs with a taste for film house movies should check out the Jos Stelling cinemas around the corner (foreign language films are subtitled in Dutch). And architecture fiends can just keep their eyes peeled… Utrecht has museums and galleries galore. Utrecht Centraal Museum with its art, design and fashion collection also houses some objects related to the history of the town. The Museum Catharijne Convent is the national museum of religious art and has an art historical collection. There's one museum that will make everyone's heart sing: the Museum Speelklok (musical clock). Is it camp, is it kitsch or is it art? That's for you to decide. One thing is certain; it's simply delightful. The museum houses a collection of music boxes great and small, from musical clocks and pianolas to typical Dutch street organs, known to many visitors from the famous Anton Pieck prints. A visit to the University's Botanical Gardens will give you a most needed breath of fresh air on a hot day. And of course the Dom Tower is just up the road. Wear comfortable shoes - never a bad idea in Utrecht - and climb it to the very top. You'll love it. Music lovers will find jazz cafes in the neighbourhood. Utrecht has a spectacular new venue for rock, jazz and classical music: the TivoliVredenburg, with five beautifully designed music halls. Utrecht Central Station is a mere 10 minutes' walk. Bus number 2 takes you there even faster; it's a three-minute walk to the stop from your door. With a lot of baggage better take a taxi. Ask him to take you next to the old Tivoli at Oudegracht. For even more authentic Utrecht experience we recommend riding a bicycle along the Kromme Rijn to the historic Amelisweerd Estate with the Chinese wallpaper. Be sure to take a trip to Rhijnauwen and visit the Tea House on a nice day; not to be missed either. If you don't ride a bicycle, don't worry. It's lovely for walks, too. Alternatively, you can rent a canoe or a fluisterbootje (whisper boat) for a leisurely trip down the canal to the rivers Vecht and Kromme Rijn.
