Small renovated cottage for two in the heart of the Cévennes. Quiet and remote place in the "green mountains". Glorious views. Ideal for walking holidays, Stevenson's Trail nearby. This tiny "gîte" is ideal for nature lovers, away from it all in a peaceful and secluded location, a 20 minutes' drive to the village. A small and quiet country road borders the property, you will hardly notice it. The cottage (probably a former small farm with a sheep shed below) was renovated in 2013-14 and carefully decorated. You will enjoy a private terrace with gorgeous views of Mount Aigoual in the distance and the whole property as your garden, from the vegetable garden to the hen house and as far as the bee yard if you wish. We offer some fresh vegetables, eggs, honey, home made jam and fruit juices (all produced organically on a small scale) - season permitting. The main house where we live is at a stone's throw but turns its back to yours. You will enjoy complete privacy, but you are very welcome to socialize if you wish. The neighbours' house opposite your cottage is unoccupied, apart from a very shy siamese cat. We love and welcome well-behaved pets. Our female Jack Russell will certainly come and say hello now and then. The property is not fenced. There is a herd of sheep just below. There is no television but there is a WiFi Internet connection (limited to 500 Mb, please avoid heavy downloads, streaming, videos). No swimming pool either, but superb bathing opportunities in the nearby gardons (about 25 minutes' drive). We will advise you and lend you all the required maps for hiking or touring. The cottage is free-standing. You will be the only guests around. We live a few yards away and will be glad to help and advise at any time. Approx. 8 hours' drive from Paris. Narrow and winding roads for 2 hours after leaving the potorway (A75 or A6) ! Please FOLLOW OUR DIRECTIONS, as we know better than anyone how to get here easily ! 2 hours from Nîmes airport. 1 1/2 hour from Nîmes TGV station. We are willing to collect pedestrians from Alès railway station (1 hour drive, 20 €) or St- Jean-du-Gard bus station (35 min., 10 €) Open all year. Linen, towels, all utilities and wood for the stove included. End cleaning, optional : 35 €
