Historic Ashton House - Gold Room

We are delighted to share this beautiful and elegant home with our guests. The Ashton House is located in the heart of Silver City’s famous historical district and a just short walk to downtown where all the art galleries, shops, coffee shops, and restaurants await. COVID-19 vaccinations and masks indoors are now required for all Ashton House guests. Please read our COVID-19 Information and Precautions below prior to placing your reservation! Updated COVID-19 Information and Precautions While Staying at Ashton House: Your hosts, Bob and Amy, are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and our rooms are sanitized prior to every new guest arrival. Due to the spread of Delta and other variants of Covid, and in order to keep our guests and ourselves safe and our doors open, we are now requiring that ALL Ashton House guests be fully vaccinated prior to their stay with us, including children 12 and older. (Per our listing rules, our home isn't suitable for children under 12). We will need to see your vaccine card(s) upon your arrival in order to be assured of your vaccination status. Also, per recommendations from the CDC, we are now mandating masks be worn indoors in all common areas at our Airbnb. The mask mandate applies to anyone who is renting one or two rooms here. Those who are renting all three rooms are not required to mask indoors EXCEPT when interacting us, your hosts. It is Airbnb’s policy that you (and all other members of our community) should not check into a listing as a guest if any of the following are true: You are actively infected or have tested positive with COVID-19 in the past 30 days. You suspect you are sick or have been exposed and are awaiting test results to confirm or deny a diagnosis of COVID-19. You are showing symptoms or are concerned about possible infection of COVID-19, including congestion, fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, temporary loss of taste or smell, flulike respiratory and digestive problems, muscle aches and fatigue. You’ve had close, sustained contact to an individual confirmed or suspected to be infected with COVID-19 within the last 14 days. Also, we require you to notify us immediately if you develop Covid symptoms during your stay with us. If you choose to not get vaccinated for whatever reason, we ask that you cancel your reservation with us. Thank you for your understanding! About Ashton House: The Ashton House is one of the many beautiful Victorian homes built during Silver City's mining heyday in the late nineteenth century. This brick Queen Anne with six steeply peaked gables, lovely arched windows and original interior woodwork, was built in 1883 for saloon and gambling parlor owner, Charles Ashton. What makes the Ashton House truly wonderful is not only the beauty of a well-preserved Victorian home, but also our amazing and eclectic art collection that decorates every room, giving the house an almost museum-like quality. This is not your ordinary or typical Airbnb, but rather a truly unique lodging experience and we hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we love living here! We have three guest rooms to offer in this beautiful and welcoming space. Our Gold Room has a queen bed and a twin sofa-bed and accommodates up to two guests. The bath has a claw-foot tub with shower wand. You can also shower standing up within the small shower curtain enclosure. NOTE: this is an old-fashioned tub you will need to step up and into and is not recommended for people who are unsteady or who have balance problems. Our guest bedrooms, each with en suite baths, are located upstairs. There are common living and dining rooms for everyone to enjoy downstairs as well as a delightful front porch where you can sit and watch the world go by. We offer coffee in the morning to our guests and breakfast-serving restaurants and coffee shops are just a short walk or drive away. We are located in the heart of Silver City’s famous historical district and an easy walk down the gently sloping Broadway St. to Bullard St. and surrounds, where all the art galleries, shops, and restaurants await. This listing is for one room only. If you have a large group (up to seven people) and wish to rent all three of our rooms, please seek out our "Historic Ashton House" Airbnb listing. Sorry, no kitchen facilities available but guests have the use of our coffee service, a small refrigerator, and microwave oven. You will have a private room with a queen bed and bath upstairs and use of the living and dining rooms and the front porch downstairs. We live in part of the home and we are always available to answer your questions or help you in any way we can. Silver City, the little town nestled at the base of the Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico, is steeped in history and a destination spot for those seeking a wonderful climate (elevation 5,895’), boundless hiking, or a charming downtown with many art galleries and restaurants. It is also the home of Western New Mexico University, with its distinctive campus overlooking the downtown area. Whether you are simply a person who likes to stroll around the downtown or a hiking enthusiast who wants a more challenging terrain, the San Vincente Trail River Walk (known as the "Big Ditch") is just down the hill adjacent to Bullard St. and Boston Hill Open Space trailhead is just a few steps away from our home. And, of course, Silver City is the gateway to the massive Gila National Forest and Wilderness, the Gila Cliff Dwellings, and the Continental Divide Trail. We have a Lockly smart lock on our front door. We will give you a code to enter into the lock's keypad and instruct you on how to use the lock when you arrive. Your room has its own deadbolt with a keypad entry so there is no need for a key. We will give you the code and instruct you on how to operate it when you arrive.
