Follow in the footsteps of Henry viii and Anne Boleyn who stayed here in August 1535 on their Grand Tour. We are an original Tudor Manor House which was renovated in the 1920’s in Cotswold Arts and Crafts style. We have beautiful views looking down the valley towards Painswick and it’s church. You will have your own private space within our family household as well as use of the gardens throughout. A 2nd bedroom can me made available within the same party at an extra charge. Min child age is 8 You will be staying in our Master Bedroom - a huge room with traditional wooden panelling, a King size bed and sweeping views. This bedroom comes with its own private landing with an adjacent single bedroom and private bathroom. The single bedroom is available at an extra charge. Guests are free to wander around the gardens and grounds. We are a small working farm with rare breed cattle so there is always lots going on! Our family look forward to meeting and welcoming you to our very special home which you will be sharing with us. Feel free to enjoy the garden and swimming pool, meet the animals and get to know a little of the local history if you are interested. We provide a breakfast every morning full of local produce - especially our own eggs when the chickens are laying. The house is set in a prime position in the Painswick Valley an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) a beautifully rural area of the Cotswolds. The local villages of Painswick and Sheepscombe are both full of traditional Cotswold stone buildings and local pubs. Here in this valley you are in the heart of Laurie Lee country and many guests visit The Woolpack in Slad where he was a well known visitor. We would reccomend you bring a car, however bicycles can be used to get around (if you don't mind the hills!). There are regular buses between Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham, but if you need a lift from the station we'll be happy to pick you up. There are some wonderful walks on our doorstep, the Saltridge Woods above the house are full of wild garlic and bluebells in the spring which then move onto natural wild flowers throughout the summer. There is also a popular hike up to the Painswick Beacon, where you can bask in the panormic views of Gloucestershire looking towards the River Severn and beyond. There is plenty to do in the local area, Stroud has a well-known farmers market on a Saturday morning, perfect for a coffee and lunch and Gloucester Cathedral is a stones throw away where you can take a tour of the crypt or keep a look out for Hogwarts corridors as seen in the Harry Potter films.
