No-compromise funky breezy terrace-style unit in unbeatable hip green city locale for work, play, everyday. Perfect base for business, holiday, or while you’re renovating, regrouping or need to be near hospital. Stocked chef kitchen, office for two, patio, balcony, courtyard on Bourke St bikepath. Cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, small bars, theatre, galleries, laneways, parks, pools, fitness. Walk to CBD, Oxford St, Kings Cross, Surry Hills. Steps to buses/trains, taxis/rides, car/bike hires. We’re not investors seeking to rent you a cookie-cutter not very comfortable city pad. We live here and we aimed to build ourselves a 5 star city living experience. When we’re not here, we want our guests to have that same experience. We picked this pocket of Darlinghurst out of all the Sydney neighbourhoods because of its incredibly convenient location and colourful character. We picked this apartment out of all the units in Darlo because of its high ceilings, lovely cross-breezes, extra room, lush greenery and ample outdoor space. We didn’t want a compromised city apartment – you know, oversized furniture, feeling closed in, not having enough storage or prep space, a tiny sink, a tiny fridge, appliance clutter, the dryer steaming up the place, not enough work space or solitary space. So we redesigned it floor-to-ceiling from front patio to back balcony to maximise space, function, storage with bits of fun and magic in each room. We also set it up so you can instantly make yourself at home: * You’ll find storage everywhere and we take our personal belongings so there’s a logical place to store all your stuff. * We’ve left all the essentials for you to use while you’re here – not just toiletries, linens, coffee, tea, sugar - but also printer and office supplies; spices, dry goods, oils and condiments; reusable grocery bags; even picnic/beach gear. Throughout the apartment you’ll find: * Custom furniture that fits, functions, re-configures and leaves you plenty of space to move around and breath. * All the spaces serve multiple functions and can be open or closed off to create separate solitary sanctuaries. * Quality fixtures, fittings, appliances. SMEG, Fischer Paykel, Bosch, Abey, Ilve, Dyson, Samsung, Sony, Klipsch * There are cool light patterns throughout the apartment that shift with the sun and we installed certain lights that cast really cool shadow patterns. You’ll find two types of lighting in each room: a set of daylight LEDs that emulate bright daylight for day tasks; a set of warm LEDs that are like soft candlelight for night-time moods without keep-you-awake blue light. * The aircon/heating serves whole apartment. There's a Dyson fan for extra cooling/heating in bedroom. Generally, we open front and back windows and doors for a fantastic breeze throughout. So what’s it like to live here? * When you walk in at street level through your own private entrance, you’ll notice a spacious patio setup to seat two or five. This gets the morning sun, so it’s the perfect place to chill out morning coffee or chat with all the passers-by. People often stop to admire the flowers. * Coming into the apartment, you’ll find the main living lounge/dining/kitchen space with its lush green street view and cool light patterns. • When you’re in this space, you don’t feel like you’re lounging in a cluttered kitchen. Everything feels like beautiful furniture; the TV and soundbar are in right place; the lounge is built from white-washed recycled black-butt for two adults lying down or six sitting around. The TV is connected to Foxtel cable and Ethernet-connected to the Internet for streaming. You can Bluetooth your phone to Klipsch soundbar for instant music or podcasts. • Just because you have a million takeaway/restaurant options at your doorstep doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to cook when you want. We designed a full chefs kitchen. The full-fridge and step-in pantry are behind doors; the sink is big enough for large pans, small appliances are out of sight in the pantry; the dishwasher is integrated and hidden. There’s plenty of prep space on benchtops and the raw steel dining table. Quality appliances, quality pots, pans, knives, chopping boards, and all the gear you need to cook, bake, blend, dine and make your own brewed coffee or cocktails. The benchtop is really special – a single slab from a recycled red gum tree – and the mosaic tiles sparkle and change with the shifting light. * There is a full dining area. The raw steel dining table and stools (which double-duty as coffee tables) are designed so you slide them around to suit what you need – whether it’s just you or eight people for dinner or coffee tables near the lounge. Since the table is raw steel, you can take hot items right from the oven or cooktop onto the table to serve. And, if you want to use this table as another workspace, there’s a powerpoint behind it. You’ll also find a dramatic Bali fishing boat repurposed as a beverage cabinet. And a floor-to-ceiling Mason jar cabinet stocked with dry goods. * Moving down the quiet hall, you’ll find the bedroom (double-duties as media room) in the darkest quietest part of the home for the best possible sleep – and the best viewing experience. It’s a quality queen bed but with added bonus of upholstered all-around headboards creating an Austin Powers giant lounge where you can watch whatever you’re binging on the Ethernet-connected SONY smart TV. (This TV has free-to-air channels and streaming services.) To store your clothes, we built a recycled red gum tree dresser for your smalls with two felted jewelry drawers; and the white hall unit for bulky hoodies and shoes. Again, you can keep the doors open, or close both hall doors and have the perfect solitary sanctuary. * Next down the hall is the soft sanctuary bathroom with built-in laundry, designed with biggest possible shower, sliced riverstone floors and linen-textured oversized Italian wall tiles. There is storage galore: in laundry cabinet, vanity drawers and large shaving cabinet. Washer/dryer is a combined unit requiring no ventilation; high capacity fan is right above shower – so no steam, no mould. Heated towel rails and a shadow-casting ceiling light finish the effect. * Next you pop out of the quiet hall back into wide open bright and sunny space. This large room with sliders to balcony and views of city through lush greenery, is another multi-purpose space. First, it’s a massive office for two with wall-to-wall built in desk; whiteboard and blackboard walls; equipped with printer, office supplies; unlimited NBN-50; dual-band WIFI; USB charging station. Second, it’s another bedroom space: the lounge is a sofa bed with a proper double mattress if you feel like sleeping in this room. Third, it serves as a spacious dressing space: floor-to-ceiling robe with wooden hangers to hang all your clothes; shelf spaces for luggage, shoes and whatever else you need to store. This is where you’ll find ironing board and iron, full length mirror, Dyson vacuum, spare linens. Fourth, this room serves as yet another sanctuary – just close hall door, read, listen to music, chill while looking out over courtyard to city beyond. * Finally, there is the back balcony with comfy chairs, sliced riverstone floors and a Bali boat storage bench seat and yoga mat. This is where you enjoy the birds and butterflies in the afternoon, the setting sun and the moon over the city lights. * And, don't forget to hang out on the teak benches in the zen courtyard garden, newly refreshed with a native area on one side and Bali-style rainforest on the other. Guests have access to the entire apartment, including front patio, back balcony and back courtyard garden. We designed your experience so everything is straightforward, but we’re available 7/24 via mobile should you need anything or notice something that could be improved. Darlinghurst does its cool thing and its real thing, its old thing and its new thing all at the same time, without being over-gentrified, too hipster or commercialised. Smack in middle of everything happening in Sydney, close to all places where business is taking place yet a real character-filled neighbourhood with a colourful history. Sandstone terrace houses, mysterious laneways, little remnants of Tilly Divine who ruled the Palmer St brothel roost and Ten Buck Alley back in the 1920s Razor Gang days. 75 year old Italian restaurants alongside new hot spots like café Mas Tintos serving authentic empanadas and born-in-Darlo legends like Gelato Messina, Kakawa chocolates, Flour and Stone bakery and Chacos ramen. Whether on our front patio or out-and-about, you’ll run into fascinating friendly people from all walks of life and every corner of the globe living, working, or visiting here. In our little pocket of Darlo, you can walk to the corner to see the fireworks, experience the mounted police clomping down the street on a pair of beautiful horses, smile at the raucous of schoolkids pouring out to the street on their breaks, admire the antique classic cars being worked on by the mechanic across the street, walk 10 minutes to Taylor Square and maybe bump into Cher at Mardi Gras. Yes, Darlinghurst boasts dozens of artisans, cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs, galleries, museums, shops – but with a Darlo twist. You can duck into dozens of intimate, tucked-away places for live theatre, movies, cabaret, magic, or small bar cocktails. Or, hang out at rooftop or historic pubs, but also groovy retro pubs and drag trivia nights. You can also walk to however you get your fitness on – working out, martial arts, boxing, yoga, dance, swimming, kayaking, biking – not only at the big gyms but dozens of little spots and outdoor fitness dotted around. You can swim at Olympic size pool at Cook and Phillips Aquatic Centre or Andrew Boy Charlton outdoor saltwater pool in the Domain; kayak at Domain or Rose Bay; or utilise the massive green spaces at Hyde Park, Botannical Gardens, Centennial Parklands, Moore Park; tiny green spaces at the pocket parks or do a bit of gardening at the community gardens. Oh and yes, it's right near the CBD, Surry Hills, Potts Point, Paddington, legendary nightspots Oxford St and Kings Cross and you can also walk to harbours, Opera House, Circular Quay, Barangaroo and bus or ferry to all the Sydney beaches. Old, new, real, colourful, hip, urban, happening, green -- all that feeds your soul right at your doorstep.
