The property is part of an English Heritage Listed water mill that used to grind corn ,and this part used to be the Millers' home- the yellow lower building -the host lives next door in the converted mill.Sadly the water wheel long gone, but the mill pit survives and sympathetic renovations ensures the character of this unique and lovely ancient building remain. If you love quirky old buildings with antique furniture ,stone walls and beams- and friendly sheep, this is the place for you! There is a wealth of original features in the property such as exposed stone walls and oak beams. Millers'Cottage is heated by renewable technology via an air source heat pump which also heats the constant hot water. This is a totally unique property ,ancient, full of character and atmosphere, whilst being spacious and light with a welcoming ambience. The whole Mill and barns sits in it's own one and a half acres of grounds & is surrounded by fields---it is adjoining a small river which is a lovely peaceful place to sit and watch the wild life and relax. There is a large seating area out side the kitchen, with table and chairs, plus guests are free to wander/sit by the river in the meadow.,and say hello to the sheep(they like a handful of ivy!)There are ancient cobbles down to the cottage and uneven ground which can be slippery. The cottage has it's own entrance. Please note the cottage has:- Ground floor-large lounge/dining area, separate kitchen.Upstairs to 1st floor with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with free standing bath and toilet,washbasin-Up stairs to 2nd floor, again with 2 bedrooms and bathroom with shower over, toilet and vanity unit.Parking for up to 2 cars.DUE TO COVID PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS,THANK YOU. Being next door I am on hand at any time for any information, issues, needs, help. etc.The cottage is self catering . The property is only about 5 miles from Dartmoor, and there are numerous National Trust properties in the locale. There are nearby pubs and shops-Newton Abbot market town is approx.2 miles away-There are regular Steam Train journeys from nearby Buckfastleigh. The beaches are numerous, the nearest being Torquay approx.9 miles. There are 3 good places to eat at a reasonable price-serving fresh locally produced food-and both approx. 1/4 of a mile away-Hannahs at Seale Hayne-The Bistro- serve delicious Sunday roasts, lunches, breakfasts and dinners. etc.,and The Welcome Stranger,Liverton, up the lane opposite property-The Halfway house, less than 1/4 mile along the A383.There are many more still within a reasonable distance. The Rugglestone Inn on Dartmoor near Widdicombe-of the famous old Widdicombe Fair folk song-is another experience well worth a visit -and serve food and excellent Real Ale. The property is rural, but only less than 1 mile from shops, pubs and good places to eat out. There is a bus service that runs hourly to Newton Abbot and the locale. There are car hire firms in nearby Newton Abbot and a train (URL HIDDEN) is perfectly situated between Exeter and Plymouth and off an 'A' road so very accessable to beaches,Dartmoor,National Trust and a wealth of beautiful countryside ,-the best of both worlds. Due to proximity of the river, and sheep on the property,I am sorry I now have had to say NO DOGS-and whilst outside all children of all ages MUST BE supervised-The cottage is strictly for a maximum of 4 inc.children and infants. Please check with host if you want to have visitors, not overnight, extra to those booked, during stay, with their names, and ages of any children. Please supply names of all guests that will be staying, and children with ages,AT TIME OF (Website hidden by Airbnb) you.PLEASE BRING OWN TOWELS .Thank you.
