The Lodge

The Lodge is a beautiful cottage with two bedrooms, two wood-burning stoves and wonderful views. It is surrounded by woods and fields, and is reached down a private drive. You can walk out of the private garden directly onto a footpath, south to the Gartmore reservoir or north to the Ochil hills and Castle Campbell. We are 35 minutes from Edinburgh airport, 50 minutes from the centre of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, 25 minutes from Stirling Castle and 30 minutes from the Gleneagles Hotel. The Lodge doesn’t have great WiFi. We have a Vodafone MiFi device which gives us 3 Mps download and 1 Mps upload. Amazingly that’s still better than the BT broadband WiFi through the copper landline. It’s good enough for emails, internet banking and the occasional online meeting via Zoom or Teams, but not for a weekend of online gaming. We get the best reception for the MiFi device when it is positioned by the little window above the front door. We have fixed a small box there which holds it securely. You’ll need to charge the device occasionally: the plug and cable are on a side table in the sitting room.
