Off-grid forest seclusion, 15 minutes from Maleny
Secluded large split level family home surrounded by forest. 100% off grid but with modern comforts. Note: 800m long rough gravel driveway access - recommend a 4wd, but 2wd ok if your confident off road. Enjoy the double sided indoor fireplace, outdoor fireplaces, and outdoor decks and yard area. Watch wallabies in the morning, cockatoos, king parrots and other visitors at dusk - spot for koalas at night. Perfect for couples getting away together, or for families or small groups of friends. There are 3 permanent bedrooms (1 large master with King Bed, with 2 other bedrooms with Queen Beds), all looking out onto surrounding forest with their own views and private balconies. The main open plan living space is large, extending from kitchen on one end of house through dining area to fireplace lounge area on the other. A large wrap around lounge with stereo set up with record player & selection of records, Chromecast Audio, CD player and surround sound speakers to enjoy your music while sitting around the fire. There is a second lounge room with TV (other side of the double sided fire place), lounge, loads of board games, PS3 and games and a fuzball table. There is 1 main toilet and shower, and also an ensuite toilet and shower for the main bedroom. Access is via a 800m long and rough gravel driveway off the main road. 4wd recommended but 2wd ok if your used to off road. There is ample room for parking multiple vehicles near the house on the grass. Parking is not covered. Access can be a bit slippery or muddy if wet. Host not on property. But available by phone, text or email at any time. Witta is an adjacent suburb to Maleny on the Blackall Range, originally settled by German Families (previously named "Teutoburg") for logging red cedar is now populated by large dairy farms , rural residential areas and conservation areas. This property is located right on the edge of Witta and Kondalilla national park is is dominated by forested areas. Propriety is 100% off grid (solar system). Electricity availability can be affected by weather and we ask guests to be mindful of energy use, although large industrial generator is available in the unlikely event back up power is required but you will have to turn it on according to instructions provided. Water pressure is a little less than normal due to being off grid gravity fed system. Hot water plentiful, either by solar or gas back up. Property only accessible by high clearance vehicles and preferably a 4wd in case it’s wet or you are not used to rough rural driveways :) the driveway is 800m long and steep in parts. A full guest book with information is provided upon arrival. Inside house is well cleaned between each use, but outside of the house is very affected by the elements and surrounding forest and wildlife so cannot be kept tidy all the time. Block wood and fire starters and matches etc are provided for fires, but you have to collect or bring your own kindling to start. Cooking utensils provided but you’ll need to bring any food or ingredients you need including oil. Coffee pods, basic tea bag selection, some cordial, basic spreads, brown sugar and instant coffee is provided. No milk or other perishables provided. We maintain the property and systems regularly during each stay, but (although rare) due to being off grid and remote we can’t always prevent some things not working perfectly during your stay or fix them immediately. We have priced the rates to reflect this.
