Walking distance to Genoa Bay using a clearly marked hiking trail. Close to Duncan for shopping. 40 minute drive to both Duke Point and Swartz Bay ferries terminals. Cowichan Bay is one of the first Slo Food Communities so there are plenty of unique eateries. We recommend True Grain Bakery and the Rock Cod Cafe to all our guests. Whale watching tours with the highest counts of whale sightings on the island are also available. You will need a car to travel around town unless you are a super cyclist. Expect to encounter deer on the main road to the house as they regularly stroll down the center of the narrow road. Proceed with caution when driving in the section of road by the first nations long house and use respectful awareness to their right of way. All cars must be parked 50ft down the road across from the home. This is a duplex and the half of the home you will be renting is accessed using the blue door to the right of the garage. There is no access the the left hand unit home or decks. Parking for one car only at the top of the driveway across the street from the house. Short gravel driveway is not in use at this time. Not room for kids to play in the yard as it is high bank waterfront home. Three staircases may not suit anyone with mobility issues or toddlers. No beach access at this time. House is on septic so please read instructions onsite and not put anything down the sink or toilet!
