Holiday Gite La Gimbretière

Our holiday gite is located in the beautiful 'Vallée de la Gartempe'. It is in fact the converted donkey stable adjoining our 'Maison de Maitre type of farmhouse. No longer a 'working' farm, nevertheless, part of the attraction is our small menagerie of sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks, geese, cats and two dogs that will form part of your surroundings when staying here. The gite has a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Should your family include little children we have a highchair, cot etc waiting for you to make your stay easier. We have a selection of indoor and outdoor toys for your use and various sizes of paddling pools for those sunny days. For swimming, kayaking or just paddling in the water take a pleasant walk from our property down to La Gartempe river where our land borders the river allowing you peace and tranquillity. Guests are very welcome at La Gimbretiere and welcome to use our garden and "bandstand" seating area along with the BBQ and pizza oven. My husband Marcus will also be keen to show you his collection of old cars including a running 1948 Citroen Traction Avant 15CV. Our fully working fifties pinball machine and a model train set are other attractions big and small kids enjoy During the summer we often cook a BBQ for our guests or have a pizza night where you are invited to join us roll your dough,top the pizza then cook in the oven.always popular with children. You are welcome to wander in our vegetable plot,maybe help me pick some tomatoes or beans to eat later. Bussiere poitevine is a friendly village approx 5kms away where you will find most day to day necessities. There is a boulangery, tabac, supermarket brocante, restaurant and tearoom to visit. Being in the middle of the countryside, a car is pretty essential. There is ample parking space. We do have three bicycles you can borrow. Our animals are all friendly and will be keen for your company but there is always the possibility they could peck or bite and of course the cockerels will crow early in the morning !!
