Poolside gite/cottage in Gascony château grounds

In the grounds of Château de Plèhaut (see website), in beautiful Gers countryside, our gite is separate from the house and completely self contained. Guests are welcome to enjoy the 12 x 6 m pool with walled garden and 5.5ha of woodland. The large bedroom has a double bed, full length bunk beds and space for a cot or child's bed. The kitchen and living/dining area are well equipped and overlook the pool. There is a toilet/shower room, free WiFi and a secluded terrace overlooking our woodland. The gite is situated by the pool and is accessed via the château garden or directly via the barn. Whilst there are 3 steps up to the gite from the pool side, the accommodation is all on one floor. Depending on the age of children, we can be flexible with the combination of bunks, child's beds (we have 2) and cot. We also have a high chair available on request. The gite is well equipped with bedding and bath and pool towels are provided. We are delighted to welcome our guests with a bottle of wine and basics including olive oil, salt, pepper and sugar will be available in the kitchen cupboard. A large, 5 bedroomed gite/apartment is also available, through Airbnb, and is situated on the second floor of the Château. Our Château de Pléhaut website provides more details of both properties and we have a FB page of the same name which is regularly updated. Both properties may be rented together to accommodate 15 adults + young children/babies. As well as the facilities in the gite, guests are welcome to access the 12 acres (5.5 ha) of garden and woodland, the château terrace (which overlooks the garden, River Baïse and Gers countryside), the swimming pool, barbecue and utility room. There is plenty of parking available on site and many guests have played boules/pétanque on the long drive of the château! We live in the château and will be on hand to answer any queries and provide advice regarding local places of interest etc. There are plenty of leaflets and information regarding opening times/prices etc of local places of interest available in the gite. Pléhaut is a small hamlet 5 kms from the town of Vic-Fezensac which has all amenities including a weekly market, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, bars etc. The surrounding countryside and local towns and historical villages are wonderful to explore. The Gers is rich in music festivals in the summer with the fabulous Tempo Latino salsa dancing and country music festivals in Vic Fezensac in July and Jazz in Marciac in July/August. A car is really essential as there are no public transport services locally. We have plenty of safe, off road parking in the château grounds and safe space in the barn for pushbikes. Hugo is our large and friendly dog, who will always want to say hello (loudly!). He loves people and may want you to play! He will sulk for hours when you leave.... Please note that the pool is in a walled garden outside the front of the gite and is shared with any guests staying in the château. The pool will be available from mid May to end September. Pool toys are available as are parasols and sun loungers. The safety and wellbeing of our guests is important to us and additional cleaning and ventilation procedures have been introduced in response to Covid-19.
