BONELLIS Le Petit Duc Tranquility in the Minervois

Hidden in the beautiful countryside & vines near Bize-Minervois, this quiet haven is home to the rare Bonelli’s eagle & other wildlife, yet is near to markets, restaurants & wineries, the historic town of Minerve & the Canal du Midi. Perfect for hiking, on & off road biking, riding, sightseeing, birdwatching, or simply relaxing by the pool. The house has air-conditioning, a well-equipped kitchen, sitting room with TV & DVD, music center and satellite internet (slower than cable) and a lovely bathroom. It also has its own heated pool (April to Sept), BBQ and outdoor eating area located in a separate garden directly (4m) opposite the house. We also have a lovely field with great views at your disposal for picnics - its a great place for children to play in and parents can chill or meditate in our genuine 1950’s bow top gypsy caravan. Can be rented with Bonellis-gite - Le Grand Duc to sleep 13-14 people in two adjacent properties with two pools. All of the gite spaces are for your use only. These include the restored winery and it's 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, and sitting-room. You also have sole access to the garden, heated pool and BBQ. Private parking is provided. We are available to help guide you on local activities, restaurants, wineries and can make recommendations based on your specific needs. The little hamlet of La Roueyre is located 10 km north of Bize-Minervois and close to Assignan at the head of a hidden limestone valley, surrounded by forest and vineyards. It is beautiful and tranquil here, but there is also a lot to do: walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, sightseeing, brilliant birdwatching (spring and autumn), exploring prehistory (dinosaurs to the bronze age) or simply relaxing by the pool or swimming in the local rivers. There are some great restaurants within a few minutes drive and many wineries where you can taste and buy local produce. If you venture a little further afield there is canoeing and kayaking, canyoning, historic towns and villages and plenty of archaeological and historical sites. The valley has an extraordinary diversity of wildlife. Bonelli's Eagles nest very close by and in spring you will be serenaded by nightingales day and night. For us it really is the most perfect spot, we are biased of course, but suggest you come and try it for yourself. A car is necessary. We are 1 hour 10 minutes from Carcassonne and Beziers airports and around 2 hours from Montpelier and Toulouse airports. There is an SNCF train station at Narbonne with car hire next door. Directions are available on our website The nearest supermarkets and food shops are in Bize-Minervois and St Chinian both 10 minutes drive from La Roueyre. We suggest you pick up supplies en-route although we provide basics such as water and milk for your arrival. Larger supermarkets are available in Saint Marcel, Capestang and Narbonne
