Charming Cottage in Animal Sanctuary, Dordogne

'La Houlette' is a cottage adjacent to a restored 16th century farm which is now part of Mudita Sanctuary, a non-profit animal sanctuary. We have 9 different species on the property from cats to cows. Cats, dogs, chickens and donkeys roam freely in the garden so if you're scared, allergic or don't like animals, this is not for you. 100% of the proceeds of your stay will go to the animals of the sanctuary. Separate from the main house, the cottage offers all the privacy one could hope from a guesthouse. It has a kitchen, living room with a fireplace and dining area, a bathroom (no shower), separate toilet and a large room on the first floor which has 2 beds, a double and a single, thereby accommodating 3 people in the same room. The cottage is over 80 square meters. The beds are 1,80x2m and 0,90x2m. You have access to the pool and the garden but these are shared with Ariane the owner and one of the volunteers of the sanctuary. The cottage is very much a part of the property so you will see the owner and the animals moving about. There is an outdoor car park available near the cottage. Guests can enjoy the pool, the garden and can even go into the fields with the animals if they wish to meet or pet them. The outdoor spaces are shared with the owner and the animals. I will be available to give information about the sanctuary and the neighbourhood. Though I am mainly busy with tasks for the sanctuary, I have some free time to spend with guests in case they desire. In any case, I am always around as I work at the sanctuary in case guests need me. This region is famous for its many castles and endless vineyards as well as beautiful nature in general. We also have over 50 animals on the property whom you can pet to your heart's content! There is no public transportation available in the countryside. The closest airport is Bergerac airport, which is 15mn away. A car is a necessity here to get around. We have parking on site All the proceeds of your stay go to the animals of the sanctuary. NO PETS ALLOWED without prior approval. We are an animal sanctuary and have animals roaming freely around the property, it might be stressful or dangerous for our animals or your pets if they don't get along.
