The Roost @ Croft Cottage is a detached, self catering, self contained garden apartment. It sleeps 3 (+1) with a double bedroom, a single bedroom with an additional pull out guest bed for a fourth person. It has a well equipped kitchen with oven, induction hob, microwave & fridge. The lounge has a double height vaulted ceiling with double doors leading out onto a private patio which catches the evening sun. Perfect for enjoying a Foxtail Gin & Tonic (which is made on site) and watch the sunset. The Roost is a self contained, private garden apartment set in 1.2 acres of private gardens which belong to the main house - Croft Cottage. The property sits in the heart of the Wye Valley in the small hamlet of Hom Green, 2 miles south of Ross-on-Wye. The Roost has one double and one single bedroom (with an additional pull out bed for a fourth person). The combined kitchen lounge area was once a former artists studio so it has impressive double height vaulted ceilings which is bright, light and spacious and captures the afternoon sun. From the lounge you can exit through the double doors onto your own private patio. Croft Cottage is the home of Foxtail Gin so you can recharge your batteries and relax on the patio with a G&T! Croft Cottage is geared towards welcoming and enjoying the local wildlife. So, along with the free ranging pet runner ducks, you will also see the resident (wild) pheasants, family of (wild) moorhens and Gordon the squirrel which all call Croft cottage home! Unfortunately, we can only accommodate children of 12 years + in the roost. For larger groups, groups with children and dogs you can combine the roost with our other holiday cottage just across the road at The Old Forge, which sleeps a further 6 people. https://abnb.me/Igq397IcCnb The Roost is an ideal base to explore the Wye Valley (and the river Wye). You can go paddle boarding, watch the peregrine falcons or enjoy a leisurely canoe on the river Wye, all from Symmonds Yat which is 4 miles away. Or if you fancy a bit of history you can find Goodrich castle, Tintern abbey, Eastnor’s castle, Skenfrith castle, White Castle, Monmouth castle, Raglan castle all within 15 miles. If Walking is for you then we are on the doorstep of Offas Dyke and the Wye Valley Walk which is 136 miles long. We also have a local annual walking festival in which you can join guided walks to spectacular viewing points, historical monuments and some hidden gems in the Forest of Dean. We live in the main house next door so please feel free to come over and knock on the door if you need anything. We have 3 pet ducks that wander around the garden which are friendly but please give them space as they are easily spooked. The Roost is 2 miles south of Ross-on-Wye which is the official birthplace of tourism. In Ross you will find restaurants, bars, supermarkets, gift shops, cafes and all the amenities you could need. A car is necessary There are 2 steps between the bedrooms and the bathroom / lounge level to be aware of (a trip hazard for children) so be careful especially if you need the loo in the night!
