The 'Shed' our slice of serenity.
Ian and I welcome you to a wee taste of country life less than an hours drive from Auckland City. The Shed offers peaceful rural and water views plus the occasional, distracting visit from wild deer and peacocks. It is a restful stop on your travels, or an escape from the hustle bustle of life. It is stand alone with a garage between it and the main house. Please note we are triple vaccinated and due to the speedy spread of omicron are only accepting vaccinated guests. The Shed is set up as a place to relax, read, write and chill out. There is a small bedroom which has a queen size bed with views looking across the paddock into our parcel of native bush and pond. The sunroom/lounge has a fold out double sofa and opens out onto the deck with rural views to the Kaipara Harbour. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with a 4 burner gas hob, mini bar fridge, microwave, panini press, cooking equipment, dining table and chairs. Smart Tv, Netflix, books, magazines, a couple of jigsaw puzzles and dvds are available for 'slothing' and there are a couple of fishing rods for the keen. Come stay, relax and enjoy this space, and please leave the Shed as tidy as you found it, thank you. Guests are welcome to walk around the garden and property, but be wary of stock in paddocks, and keep gates closed, and treat any electric fence as live. Washing machine is available by arrangement, as well as the deep freeze for long stays. We value your privacy, but happy to chat and be of assistance! Neighbours are either farmers or lifestyle block owners, relatively quiet, apart from the free range roosters that reside across the road. MacNut Farm and the Jetty Cafe at Shelly Beach are the closest for breakfast, brunch and lunch. There is 4wd access to Muriwai Beach from the end of our road, or you can walk it (approx 40mins) Have a relaxing soak at Palm Springs Thermal pools, open 10am-8pm except Sunday which is 3pm-8pm and closed Tuesdays. Other things to see and do are the Kaipara Harbour Cruises, Fishing, Golf, South Kaipara Horse Treks. Helensville itself has a , couple of cafes, Turkish kebab shop, Japanese, Thai, Helensville Fishery for yummy fish and chips, boutique brewery (only open weekends) and a not to miss is fresh bread and delicious pastries from the Bread Project open Tuesday to Saturday quite often sold out and closed by lunchtime. We have a library, art galleries, medical centre and a small Countdown. On the way to Wellsford stop in at Kaipara Gardens and Sculpture Trail or book a tour at Alan Gibbs Sculpture Park . Love the outdoors head to Woodhill Bike Park, Woodhill Tree Adventures, Muriwai Beach and gannet colony. The Hunting Lodge, Westbrook wineries and Tasting Shed at Kumeu are worth a taste too! You need your own vehicle. We live in the country, Wifi and cellphone reception is average. Closest supermarkets are - New World at Kumeu, Countown at Helensville, 4 Square at Parakai. NO PETROL after Helensville. Please note 'nothing' is open in our neighbourhood at night, but on a clear night the stars are spectacular!
