Honeyacres, perfect, tranquil, spacious retreat.
Honeyacres is a villa-style bungalow, 15 minutes from Cheltenham. It has beautiful, spacious grounds and all modern conveniences. It is light and airy, the garden faces south and there is a wide expanse of sky. Lots of bunnies in the garden too! Please scroll down and click the link to my guidebook (just after location map) for loads of info and ideas on places to visit, nature parks, arts and culture, entertainment for all ages. Recently modernised, Honeyacres has a wonderful ambience - the many glass doors result in a sunny, light and airy feel and the vast garden provides the opportunity for a relaxing and luxurious break. Honeyacres is exclusive use. The main bedroom which also has a dressing room and luxury en-suite has a super king bed. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms have twin single beds and share an en-suite bathroom. The 4th bedroom has an en-suite with a double bed and 2 singles. The 5th bedroom has 1 single bed. There is also space for an air bed in the main bedroom and annexe and a double sofa bed can be made up in the mezzanine off the dining room (which leads into a conservatory). There is a fully fitted and fully stocked kitchen, including a microwave and dishwasher with an island breakfast bar. There is a separate dining room with a large table that can be extended and electric piano that flows through into a wonderful open plan living room (the TV has sky and Netflix) with a fireplace creating superb entertaining space. The lounge and dining room both open out to the main patio area and the fully enclosed, private and expansive garden. The dining room also has a changing colour illuminated well that creates a great ambience with lighting. Preagreed use of BBQ is also available for the main patio area outside where there is a large patio table and chairs and water feature for al fresco dining. The house is ideal for wedding guests needing somewhere to stay in the area, not least those at the Hatherley Manor Hotel which is a 2 minute walk up the road. We also have bookings for reunions, family gatherings, get-togethers with friends, professionals working at GCHQ plus it is an ideal location for race goers attending the Cheltenham Races. The house has lots of open plan space for everyone to be together that flows naturally into the outside area. It is possible to hire a private chef to come and cook dinner for you at the house. A company many recommend is Dineindulge on (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) although we have several other chefs we can recommend upon request. In the past people have also utilised the flat, 3 acre garden which is a particular feature of the property for appropriate, outside activities although we must stress that consideration must be given to our neighbours at all times regarding behaviour and noise levels. (Anti social, wild and raucous behaviour is not welcomed at Honeyacres and will not be tolerated. If this is the type of gathering you are after then Honeyacres is not for you). Hatherley Manor Spa is a 2 minute walk across the road, however guests can also hire beauty therapists to come to the house for treatments and massage. The house is suitable for more intimate family gatherings, for example over the festive period when whole families come together to swap presents and share a meal together. It is also proving popular as a place to reunite with old university friends sometimes with their own young families, as it is an ideal place to spend relaxing and catching up whilst the children entertain each other and explore the garden. Locationally the house is central to many UK towns and cities, Bristol, Birmingham, Oxford, Cardiff, Bath and Warwick are all within approx 1 hour. Additionally, there is a direct train to Paddington from both Cheltenham and Gloucester, so the house works well as a meeting place for people coming from various locations. Guests are welcome to use the whole property Sometimes, but not always, we will be there to welcome guests. If not, the key will be left in the lock box. Thereafter I will be contactable by phone, text or email but there will not be anyone at the property. I will leave a welcome letter inside containing details of WiFi etc. Once you’ve booked, please email us with your plans so we can help accommodate you. We also live in the next village so are on hand if there any problems. Honeyacres is a stunning Mediterranean style villa with a flat, 3 acre, south facing garden in the peaceful village of Down Hatherley just 6 miles from the stylish town of Cheltenham with its wide selection of independent restaurants and boutique shopping, outdoor lido pool, nightlife, bars and clubs, not to mention the famous Cheltenham race track. It is 3 miles from the historic city of Gloucester with its imposing cathedral, the Gloucester Quays outlet mall and the revamped dockland area whilst the mediaeval Tudor town of Tewkesbury is 7 miles away. It is also conveniently located for exploring the Cotswold region, (many Cotswold villages are within a 40 min drive such as Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold) and the Forest of Dean is in the other direction with its plethora of outdoor activities from cycling paths to nature trails, horse riding to tree top aerial adventures. Cheltenham itself is lucky to host many high profile and well regarded festivals. We have bookings for the literary festival in October (past speakers include Hillary Clinton) the science festival in May and the jazz festival, all of which attract people from outside the local area. Brickhampton golf course (perhaps something for the dad’s when the girls are at the new Hatherley Manor spa opposite) is a 10 minute walk.
