The Lodge is the west wing of Nutwood House, a unique property, once the Factor’s House and part of the Earl of Cromartie estate. Situated in a beautiful, peaceful location on the edge of the Victorian Spa village of Strathpeffer, all amenities within 5 minutes walk. Magnificent views across the Peffery Valley. Private garden and many activities to enjoy, forest walks, mountain biking,fishing etc. Nearby places include the renown Rogie Falls.Great location and base to explore the Highlands. You have your own separate entrance to The Lodge and it is a self-contained property attached to Nutwood House. It is a situated on the edge of the village of Strathpeffer, known for its attractive Victorian architecture and grandeur, with a supermarket, restaurant, post office, various local shops and pub. The infamous Loch Ness and iconic Urquhart Castle are a short drive away. The Lodge is in an excellent location to explore the Highlands, with an abundance of lochs and glens, from the stunning Glen Affric to smaller lochs Achility and Kinellan within easy walking distance. Local whiskey distilleries offer you the opportunity to sample their superb malt whiskeys, to travel the whiskey trail across the Highlands, or tour the nearby Muir of Ord Distillery. There are mountain bike trails and a network of walks. Strathpeffer and its surroundings embrace exceptional scenery, constantly changing with the seasons and dramatic light across the valley. It maintains many of the original features and character as well as being well equipped with all modern amenities. There is an entrance porch with downstairs toilet leading into the hallway. There is a separate kitchen and lounge. Upstairs there is a family bathroom, twin bedroom , another separate toilet and main bedroom with super king bed. A cot is also available, high chair and stair gates. The Lodge has its own private garden with stunning views across the valley. There is adequate parking for at least two cars and is also a safe place for mountain bikes too ! Miranda and Neil, the owners live next door and we are available to greet you on your arrival. We are also available to let you know about the neighbourhood, help out if there are any issues, otherwise we will leave you to have The Lodge to yourselves to enjoy ! Nutwood House is set back from the road in a peaceful location, approached by a long driveway lined with rhododendrons and beech trees. Next to the driveway is the Pictish Eagle Stone, steeped in ancient legend and folklore with Brahan Seer’s predictions.Castle Leod is next door to Nutwood House, which is the Mackenzie Clan’s ancient seat.Local wildlife, includes pine martens, red deer, red kites and red squirrels. Scottish wildcats have also been spotted in the neighbourhood. Bottle neck dolphins and grey seals are seen regularly in the nearby Moray Firth. By air : Fly to Inverness airport, there are regular flights from London Gatwick, Heathrow, Bristol and Manchester with EasyJet and Flybe, There is a regular bus from the airport to Inverness By car : Travel north from Inverness on the A9. At the Tore roundabout follow signs for Dingwall. At the second traffic lights in Dingwall turn left signposted for Strathpeffer. The access driveway to the house is on the right hand side between stone pillars just prior to entering Strathpeffer village and before the last 30 mph limit signs. Nutwood House name is displayed beside the drive entrance By rail : There is a railway station 5 miles away in Dingwall with regular services from Inverness. You can then get to the Lodge by bus (hourly) or taxi.
