The Orchard Farm, Homeley Homestead
Set amongst 80 acres of Tallong's last remaining working fruit orchard is Homeley Homestead, a lovingly restored 3 bedroom cottage, with clawfoot bath overlooking the cherry trees, fireplace in the lounge room & a large country kitchen with a full pantry to cook your own breakfast in the morning! Unplug, unwind and relax (with limited mobile coverage!) Sit back on the verandah, enjoy the Kangaroos , Wombats and other wildlife! Follow the journey of our Orchard on Insta at "theorchardfarm" Enjoy the whole farm- just remember it is a work in progress, we are restoring The Orchard Farm so be aware of branches and wombat holes! There is bushland, paddocks and all the fruit trees. Homeley Homestead is the original cottage on the farm- we were told it was “only good for the bulldozer” when we bought it and Over the last couple of years we have restored it and now it sits happily again overlooking the Orchards and is the perfect spot to unplug, unwind and relax. With limited phone coverage and no internet we encourage our guests to take a trip back in time to when the pace of life was a little bit slower and enjoy each other’s company and the beautiful scenery that The Orchard Farm has to offer. Guests are welcome to drive up to the house, and from there walk around all parts of the farm. Just be mindful that it is a farm with dams, barbed wire fences, wombat holes and trees so wear sturdy shoes! There are farm stalls down Caoura Rd and Badgery's lookout rd to purchase local produce. We are just up the road and can be there in minutes if any problem should arise. We are contactable via phone or Imsg or email. However phone reception at The Orchard is a little unpredictable so we ask guests to be aware of this when booking! We are just around the corner from the stunning Long Point Lookout (where Magnus and I were married!) and Badgeries Lookout is further up Caoura Rd. The Midge cafe and general store is a short drive, ride or leisurely walk away. Day trips to Bundanoon to see the glow worm glen or just enjoy the art and craft shops are encouraged or duck into Marulan to find all you need. Local wineries, antique shops, restaurants and galleries are to be found up the highway ( Bowral, Mossvale, Berrima ) or continue south to historic and beautiful Goulburn. Car is easiest to reach us, although the train line isn’t far away (and we can arrange to pick you up if needed) once at The Orchard Farm you can either stay put and relax on the farm or head off on bushwalks in the nearby national parks and state forests or go on Day trips in the car. All other information to make guests stay as enjoyable as possible is included in the welcome letter. It is an old farmhouse so while it doesn’t have the “mod cons” of a new house we have made every attempt sure ensure your stay is comfortable. The beds are made fresh with warm sheets, blankets and quilts in winter, there is the slow combustion fire ready to be lit and oil heaters in every room if needed. We advise guests to pack warm socks and slippers as The Southern Highlands can have four seasons in one day!
