Lovely eco-smart cottage - Pomona
Coucal Rise cottage was renovated in 2017, providing guests with smart, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated spaces to enjoy. The house is filled with vintage pieces, interesting curios and art work, to inspire and intrigue. Set on six acres, only four km from the village of Pomona, guests have room to interact with the environment - viewing kangeroos and kookaburras, established gums and harvesting from the diverse sub-tropical orchard. The property is eco-savvy and off the grid - 100% solar/battery powered, rain water tanked, septic for waste water and gas for cooking and hot water. There is a stereo, with CD and radio function and cable for your device. A large collection of reading material and board games, but no TV or WiFi (but a reasonable phone connection)are available to while away the hours. We have fitted quality bath and kitchen ware, and the cottage is very comfortable, but the limit power draw means no high energy use items allowed, such as hairdryers or irons. If you need pressed clothes, you need to stay in the city! A key pad code will let you in and then you really are left to your own devises. Any problems, just call us! We know you're a capable adult, and we have faith Coucal Rise wont disappoint. You may have to change of the LPG tanks if gas runs out, but how hard can that be?! Pomona is a short drive away, providing quirky cafes with excellent coffee and a plethora of second hand dealers. A walk up the steep Mt Cooroora, home of annual The King of the Mountain race, is a challenge for all who want to undo the overdone Saturday night. Noosa Main Beach on bustling Hasting Street is a mere 1/2 hour drive. The calm waters of Lake Cootharabra at Boreen Point, ideal for boating and windsurfing, a 20 minute drive. Lunch at the historic Apollonian Hotel a must! There are several stand out restaurants and microbreweries within a 15 minute drive radius. So much to do and see, so little time... The train can be caught from Brisbane to Pomona, and then an Uber booked to travel to Coucal Raise, but ideally you will need a car to get to the property, and to make the most of the area. There are many walking trails and national parks in the region for those guests who want to stay active. There is a maximum of 4 adults and 3 children during any stay. Residents on neighbouring farms occasionally use farm equipment - we cannot guarantee noise levels, but we know that no one appreciates loud noise after sundown!
