After a three year renovation project and latterly the Covid pandemic, I am delighted to say that No41 is finally open! The house is situated just a 5 minute walk from both the railway and bus stations and from the town centre. No.41 is a late regency townhouse, offering a warm welcome to all visitors and guaranteeing a home from home experience. Another en-suite double room is available. For details see 'No.41 - Double En-suite' No.41 was one of the first houses to be built on this street in 1834. While the facades of other early residences on the street became more influenced by Victorian architecture, No.41 and its adjoining neighbour has retained its regency influence. The entire house was restored and refurbished over a period of two years. While many period features have been retained, the contemporary interior has created a sympathetic balance between the old and the new. Each double bed guest room has its own spacious en-suite toilet/shower room. Rooms are lockable thereby providing additional security. Each room has complimentary toiletries, tea/coffee making facilities, TV and Wifi access as well as a safe to secure personal items and travel documents. Additionally, guests have the use of their own private sitting room for relaxing, surfing the net or watching TV. The kitchen is also available to guests. While I do not do breakfast, guests may avail of tea/coffee, orange juice, cereal and toast. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen for making lunch or having an evening meal. All I ask is that the kitchen be left in the condition in which it was found. This is for both my benefit and for the benefit of other guests. The house has a strict NO SMOKING policy. However, guests who wish to smoke may do so in the kitchen patio area at the rear of the house. As No.41 is my home I will be present throughout your stay to offer any support and to ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable visit. No.41 is situated adjacent to the South Inch, a large parkland with its own wildlife pond. Ideal for guests who enjoy walking or jogging. The immediate area was only populated as late as the early 19th century and this is reflected in the local architecture. All venues and amenities in the city are easily accessible on foot. Perth is a small city, the inner boundaries of which have changed very little since medieval days. A short drive across the river will provide an opportunity to visit Scone Palace, the location where the Kings of Scotland were crowned. The railway station provides an opportunity for day trips to other larger cities such as Dundee (V&A Museum, SS Discovery and much more), Edinburgh (Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, The Royal Mile) or Glasgow (Kelvin Hall Transport Museum, Glasgow Science Museum, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Riverside Museum). Each city boasts myriad cafe and restaurant venues to suit all tastes and budgets. A short drive north to the picturesque town of Dunkeld is highly recommended (15 miles). The 14th century monastery, woodland river walks, cafes and restaurants makes for an excellent day out. Alternatively a 40 minute drive to the medieval university town of St Andrews is not to be missed. The harbour, castle, monastery ruins, medieval university buildings and the picturesque harbour will make for a worthwhile visit.
