A unique destination for cosy retreats. Dram Cottage is a beautiful private home sleeping up to 6 people nestled in the very heart of the wonderful village of Findhorn, Moray. Built in 1843, the traditional one and half storey fisherman’s cottage has been sympathetically and stylishly updated to provide a relaxing experience for guests to enjoy together and create special memories. Moments from the dunes, beach and bay and literally a hop and a skip from the bakery, village stores and Pub. Dram Cottage is a wonderful bijou venue to retreat for family gatherings or simply a lovely break away with friends. This family home has been sensitively enhanced to provide all you need for a relaxing break. The kitchen boasts all the most discerning gourmand could demand, with a new induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, and Nespresso machine – and to help tidy up there is Bosch compact dish washer, washing machine and tumble drier. Entertainment in the panelled living room comes from the Sony HD TV… with Amazon and Netflix ready streaming services and a good old-fashioned DVD player and trunk of DVDs for that rainy afternoon. For your comfort there is a large wood burning stove in the living room – with a copper pot full of logs - under floor heating in the dining hall - which will comfortably seat 6 - an 8 foot heated towel rail and ‘rain dance’ overhead shower in the bathroom and an electric wet heating system throughout the property. The living areas and bedrooms have been thoughtfully appointed with original pieces of artwork, antiques, and curios. The bedrooms are bijou and cosy, designed for a snug good night’s rest…downstairs there is a small double…upstairs in ‘Wee Dram 1’ a comfy double and in ‘Wee Dram 2’ two singles for your little ones. Outside – to one side you will find a small sun trap with stylish metal garden furniture and table to enjoy the peace, your perfetto espresso and fresh croissant from the village bakery and to the other a wee rose garden… Opposite private parking and a large shed to store your mountain bikes, body boards or skis. The wonderful photographs by Home Highlands Photography really give you a flavour of how special we think Dram Cottage is! Our booking week runs Thursday to Thursday. Bookings Weekly Rates High-Season (June / July / August / September and Hogmanay and Christmas) £ 975 Mid-Season (April / May / October) £ 775 Low-Season (January / February / March / November / December) £ 675 During Mid and Low-Season, short stay bookings of 3 nights are available at a rate of £495 (Mid) and £425 (Low) respectively We wont be in Findhorn during your stay... the keys are in a safe place for your arrival. To be honest perhaps you don't want to meet the host anyway! However, we are just a phone call away and our House keeper is on hand to help with any issues which may arise. Full contact details are in the guest hand book available in the property. If 11 miles of pure unspoilt golden sandy beach is not enough to keep you occupied - as I must admit we do not seem to roam far after arriving in Findhorn! - then try wandering the Site of Special Scientific Interest dunes which lead you either to Roseisle or to the back of the Spiritual Foundation and Eco Village. Alternatively, if you have your sea legs, take the water taxi to Culbin and enjoy losing track of time with a further 12 or so miles of pristine sands and dunes shaped by tide and wind which are owned by the RSPB… and which lead to the mighty Culbin Forest with its many miles of paths and spots to sit and rest at Dragonfly Pool, The Gut, Otter Pool or Maviston Dunes. Further afield… onwards to perhaps Logie Steading and the serene Findhorn River Walks. Dallas Dhu Historic Distillery or the Benromach Distillery in Forres… …Then wander up Cluny Hill to the 1806 Nelsons Tower in Forres Or step back in time at the magnificently turreted 16th C Brodie Castle And if that has built up an appetite - enjoy a welcome lunch break at the superb Kale Yard - situated in the walled garden of Boath House and dating back to 1550 ( Don’t forget to wander the lake just beyond the walled garden) There is no hurry …perhaps another time for some of these days out and excursions! Dram Cottage has private parking directly opposite the cottage - between the blue shed and hedge. We recommend your own transport is really best for getting out and about. To be honest we do not tend to wander very far anyway! If you bring bikes you can leave them in them shed. Try the almond croissant from the bakery - Delicious! Usually you can turn up at the back door of the bakery early morning to purchase fresh fine pieces before the shop opens...now you must pre-order....but you still beat the queue!
