A jewel in a spectacular Andalusian village

Casita Clara is a stylishly renovated house in the beautiful pueblo blanco of Gaucin, an easy drive from Gibraltar or Malaga airports. It has spectacular views down to the Med, the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco, a light-filled interior and a luxurious feel. The house is a 10-minute walk from a pool (July/August) and two minutes from bars and restaurants. But close the door behind you and it becomes the perfect hideaway for birdwatchers, walkers and anyone wanting to relax in a stunning setting. Casita Clara blends an open-plan design with traditional Andalusian features, such as patterned wall tiles and terracotta floor tiles, and stylish Moroccan touches. There’s a welcoming and comfortable lounge, with TV, Now TV box, DVD player, Bluetooth stereo and a ceiling fan to keep you cool. There's also a folder packed with useful information (in English, Spanish and German) to help you settle in to the house, as well as make the most of your time in the area. From the lounge it's a couple of steps down to the kitchen, which is big enough to eat in. You'll find everything you need - including good-quality kitchenware, a fridge with a freezer compartment and a washing machine. At the top of the curved staircase there’s a small but well equipped bathroom with a Moroccan arch into the shower cubicle. In the cupboard you’ll find beach parasols, a drying line for your washing, an iron and a comfy cushion for lounging on the terrace banquette. Go up a couple of steps and you’re in a stunning, double-height bedroom with a beamed ceiling, large wardrobe, chest of drawers and an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed with soft cotton bedding. (Please note that this is a UK king size so it measures 1.6m x 2m, not 1.8m x 2m as AirBnB may tell you!) From there there’s a flight of stairs to the terrace from where you can see eagles, swifts and kestrels soar overhead, marvel at the view and count the stars at night. With an eco under-floor heating system, as well as a small woodburner, Casita Clara is a great choice for a winter break, too. I also know people in the village who can help if you're really stuck. Calle Alta is a quiet street so I do ask guests to be considerate of that and respectful of my lovely neighbours! The nearest place to park is Calle Larga, one street down from Calle Alta. From there it's a short walk to the house. I'll send you full directions when you've booked. It's worth renting a small car as the streets in Gaucin can be pretty narrow. I also fold in my wing mirrors when I park and sometimes leave them like that until I've left the village, to be on the safe side!
