Shearers' Quarters, on an historic sheep station
Come and stay at our beautifully restored Shearers Quarters, on an 1300 acre working sheep property in the Southern Tablelands of NSW., just 15 minutes from Goulburn. There is a stunning outlook from the verandah over the paddocks, over the Mulwaree ponds the the mountains. There are beautiful gardens for guests to explore and many farm animals, kangaroos and wombats and wonderful birdlife. There are quiet farm roads for bike riding and walking. Ideal for a group of friends or a family. There are 3 bedrooms, accessed from the common verandah, a central living area with slow combustion stove a new fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, all with lovely rural vistas. Enjoy sitting under the towering pine trees, or in the beautiful homestead garden, established some 100 years ago, at the end of the day, with a glass of wine in hand, to watch the sunset in the west. Relax with a book, or watch the many different birds, or go for a walk or cycle on the farm roadways. If you are with children, there are farm animals: chooks, ducks, pigs, alpacas, cattle and a horse, and there are many sheep on the working farm. There are also kangaroos, wombats, and echidnas to spot. Guests will have the whole of the Shearers 'Quarters to themselves, and can use the Homestead laundry if required. You are free to wander in the Homestead gardens and orchard. There is a map of lovely walks on the farm. We are usually on the farm . Sometimes we will not be on farm for your stay. If you require us to be on farm for your stay please enquire when you book. The Goulburn area was settled very early in the life of the colony, as a prime sheep and wool growing area. Our farm was established in 1831, and has an original stone house. Goulburn has many fine old buildings, a great Art Gallery, all sorts of shops, a great public swimming pool, amenities, restaurants and cafes. There are some lovely river walks in Goulburn and an historic waterworks. There is a golf course, if you are so inclined. Wakefield Park is 10 minutes away, so if you are visiting car enthusiast, the Shearers'Quarters is a great place to stay. Lake George, and its surrounding vineyards are about an hour away, as is Canberra, the National Capital, with the War memorial Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Australian Museum, National Library etc. Terrific cafes and restaurants in Canberra, as well as a great food market. The historic township of Braidwood is just 45 minutes away, as is the artistic centre of Bungendore, with its famous wood gallery, other galleries and interesting shops and ca The Shearers' Quarters is 15 minutes from Goulburn train station, and there are taxis from Goulburn, if you do not have a car. There is plenty of parking at the Shearers' Quarters. Please note the minimum stay is for two nights.
