A typically small, granite and slate, Cornish cottage, you’ll find it right in the heart of the Medieval town of Lostwithiel. A lovely, comfortable, 2 double bedroomed cottage, perfectly placed for exploring the town, the beautiful surrounding countryside, and the rest of Cornwall. The London to Penzance mainline railway stops here, the station is a short stroll over the 12th century bridge, making it possible to leave your car at home. Lost Cottage sleeps up to 4 adults in 2 double rooms, the larger having a king size bed that zips apart to form two singles. It has a fully tiled downstairs shower room/WC. The small modern kitchen has a washer/dryer, 2 ring induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave combi oven and dishwasher although there are so many wonderful places to eat out or take away from within just a minute’s walk, you won't want to spend your holiday in the kitchen. In the comfortable lounge there’s a smart TV and a cosy dining area. Superfast wi-fi is included for those times when you want to relax and indulge in some surfing that doesn’t involve catching a wave. The cottage is in a residential area and has no outside space or on-site parking, but there are 2 free car parks yards away and on street free parking. The river has a ‘beach’ and grassed area with free to use barbeques and picnic benches. As it is so close to the river the property is accessed via 3 stone steps and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Being in the heart of the town you are only yards form everything this vibrant community has to offer. There are 2 quite different Indian restaurants, a Chinese takeaway and for fine dining, Asquith's restaurant. There are 4 pubs, all serving excellent food, the nearest is The Globe Inn, 20 yards away. A well stocked Co-Op is only 30 yards away, just past the fantastic 'Country Fryer' fish and chip shop. There are numerous walks and trails taking in the breath-taking countryside surrounding the town. A popular, circular, walk takes you to Restormel Castle then on to The Duchy of Cornwall Nurseries (excellent coffee, cake and light lunches) and back home. For exploring further afield the mainline railway is 4 minutes stroll away, from where you can reach Newquay, St Ives, Truro and Penzance etc. Lanhydrock -National Trust house and grounds. Coulson Park and Shire Hall Moor nature reserve. The Eden Project. Mevagissey - bustling fishing harbour. Charlestown - historic harbour, Shipwreck Museum and Poldark location. Polkerris - hidden bay with watersports, Pub and Restaurant on the beach. The Lost Gardens of Helligan. Wheal Martyn Clay Works museum. The Bodmin Jail Experience. Hidden Valley Gardens - specialist plant nursery. Bodmin & Wenford steam railway. Padstow, Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth - foodie heaven. St Ives, Tate St Ives, Barbara Hepworth Gallery. Lantic Bay, a local’s secret, quite a long, steep walk but well worth it. Fowey, busy harbour town with ferries to Polruan and Mevagissey.
