There is an open air pool nearby in the village of Fosse, just under 3kms from the house and is open July/August 6 afternoons a week and its free to use, a great way to cool off. La Terrasse has been furnished and equipped to a very good standard and offers couples plenty of space to relax and unwind and enjoy your holidays. It offers a real feel of traditional France with modern comforts. The house has wifi electric radiators in all rooms and a well appointed and equipped kitchen. The house is located on a small street with very little passing traffic so its quiet. The front door leads up a flight of stairs to the first landing where the bedroom is. Its big enough for you and has a double bed, wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables. Next to the bedroom is the shower room which with the shower has a wash basin, wc, towel rail, extractor fan and washing machine. Up the stairs again will take you in to the good sized living room which has a comfortable leather settee and 2 arm chairs, long coffee table, wood pellet burner, electric radiator and views over the tops of the village to the open fields. There is a TV to watch Amazon prime with movies in English and French, there is also a selection of DVD’s. Up the last set of stairs takes you to the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is simple and not huge but it is well equipped and can turn out a great dinner. It has a ceramic hob and electric oven, fridge with freezer box, extractor fan and loads of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans - I’m sure you’ll find everything you need and if not, just let me know. I always try to leave a good selection of oils, herbs, spices, tea, coffee and sugar. Please, if you use them please do think about replacing so other gusts can enjoy things as you have. Thanks. The house will be set up for your arrival. The bed will be made, towels put out for you, hot water on and fridge on too. Once you arrive please do read the information book provided as it does have other information regarding the house. When you arrive, the front door key is located in a key box by the front door and you will be given the code before you arrive. On your arrival, i will try my best to be there to meet you however, this is not always possible due to other guests arrival at the same time so the key box will allow entry until i get to meet you. Le Vivier is a lovely little village in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The village is dominated by the old chateau which looks down over the village and has been for the last several hundred years. You can go walking around the chateau grounds and sometimes during the summer months there are free guided walks to see the chateau close up. The village has no shops but the travelling vans do come on a regular basis selling bread, cheeses and basic supplies, its actually a nice opportunity to mix with the locals who are usually ready to say “Bonjour” with a smile. For your more shopping needs the villages of Caudies de Fenouilledes and Saint Paul de Fenouillet are not too far away, roughly 15 to 20 minutes by car, here you will find more shops and a large supermarket which always has a great deli and fish counter, you will also find a couple of banks, cafes, bars, restaurants and fuel station. The region of the Fenouilledes is pretty much between the beaches and coastal resorts of the Mediterranean and the ski slopes. The beaches are about an hours drive, the ski slopes slightly further., its also rather well known for the vineyards the run along the valley bottom. You will see many wine ‘caves’ in various villages where you can sample wines of your choice. If you like walking and just looking at beautiful scenery then its here, in abundance., you can walk for hours and see nothing but birds flying high and some very pretty flowers along the tracks. If you want to cool off from the summer heat, there are two open air pools, one in the village of Fosse which is free and open six afternoons a week and a second one in the village of Pratts de Sournia which is open July and August too and the charge is 2 euros entry fee, both about 3 or 4 kms from the house. If this all sounds too energetic, you can always stay home on the roof terrace of La Terrasse with a good book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other and just let time slip by..... Enjoy ! To get around this beautiful area you must have a car, its impossible without. If you want to get the bus from Caudies to Perpignan you can and its only normally 1 euro per person each way. Parking in Le Vivier is not a problem and there are various places for you. You can stop outside the house for loading and unloading purposes but thats all. There are spaces in parking bays off the main road, you can park in the church car park or in the parking area just before the church park. Please note. The two pools referred to in the publicity are not in Le Vivier and are not private. They are public pools in the village of Fosse 3 kms and Pratts de Sournia 4kms.
