Freo-friendly private space - views, walk to town.
Your apartment is in one of Fremantle's best residential streets, lined with heritage homes, and within easy walking distance of central Fremantle. The self-contained granny flat (bathroom, bedroom, living space) has a private entrance under the family home. The flat has Wi Fi, a comfy QS bed, sofa bed, TV, microwave, fridge, WC, shower, laundry, fully equipped private kitchen and outdoor dining setting. Perfect for two adults, and with minor adjustments (fold down sofa bed) for three. It's a light and friendly space with the front door opening to a narrow kitchen, adjoining a small dining area for meals and a space for watching television. It has terracotta flooring in the kitchen and carpet in the sleeping area. A sofa bed on castors can be turned to watch television in comfort. This area is screened from the bedroom with its QS bed, cupboards, bedside tables and chest of drawers. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and hand basin. French doors lead to a brick paved alfresco area, lawn and garden with magnificent views over Fremantle, the harbour, and the ocean to Rottnest Island. A clothes line is to the right close to the laundry. The yard is terraced. At the end of Solomon Street, about eight houses away, is beautiful Monument Hill with great ocean views. Guests have full access to an outside laundry and clothesline (shared with hosts). An upstairs veranda barbecue area, with great ocean views, is available on request. There is driveway parking for one vehicle on request. Guests can use the back garden area at any time. Your hosts have a friendly toy poodle and a curious grey cat. We will interact with guests greeting them and farewelling on departure. Available as needed upon request and we are very happy to offer suggestions on dining, shopping and places to visit. The Rottnest ferry from B Shed is a 20-minute walk, but hosts are happy to transport guests to and from the wharf if negotiated. Any questions are welcomed. We prepare a welcome pack of fresh milk, tea, instant coffee, sugar, cereal, fresh bread, butter, jam (Vegemire), eggs, selection of fruit, and juice. Solomon Street is regarded as one of Fremantle's most elegant streets with a blend of old and new architecture, heritage and contemporary. Wonderful Monument Hill with great views just half a dozen houses away. A 10 minute walk down the side of Fremantle's world heritage listed Prison, now a major tourist attraction, brings you to the City centre, passing the Fremantle Markets which open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The central railway station is a 15-minute walk but hosts are happy to transport, if nogotiated. Fremantle's famous pubs and Cappuccino Strip, maritime museums, Notre Dame University, the historic Round House, and bars and fish shops are within walking distance. Information is provided on restaurants, pubs, clubs, nightlife, tourist spots and events. Local Red and Blue CAT buses (free) operate in the city to get you around Fremantle on a circular 10-15 minute ride. A Red CAT bus stop is outside Fremantle Station and guests coming back to the accommodation can use that (ask to be dropped at CBC school) followed by a 7-10 minute walk up High Street to Bateman Street (turn right) which runs alongside the monument, left into Knutsford and then right into Solomon Street to your accommodation. CAT buses stop at 6pm. An alternative is to catch the 160 bus from Fremantle Station (paid fare) and ask to be dropped at the Knutsford Street bus stop on Hampton Road. If you wish to go to Perth you can catch the regular suburban train. Fremantle's main station is a 15-minute walk from your accommodation through central Fremantle. Trains start about 5am and run to midnight. It is a 30-minute ride to Perth from Fremantle. A shuttle bus operates to both Perth's domestic and international airports. Hosts have available one parking bay (free) in their drive-way, if negotiated. Hosts are happy to be consulted on all travel information required. Fremantle has extensive cycle paths with bicycles available to hire at an hourly rate. A tourist tram (paid) operates from the Town Hall. Ferry services operate between Fremantle and Rottnest Island or Captain Cook tours along the Swan River from Perth to Fremantle. Because the hosts live above the granny flat there may be, at times, some minor noise transference from the upper living area, Because of the toy poodle we ask guests to ensure the side gate is locked when leaving. There are about seven easy steps to negotiate to get down to the granny flat level. NOTE: City of Fremantle Short Stay Accommodation Registration Number: SSA 16/0023.
