Enjoy our home 5 mins from Pt Chevalier beach. Take in sea views upstairs and down, enjoy our extensive garden and help yourself to veggies. Various living areas inside and out provide different sunny and shady places to relax. A back deck area overlooks the boat ramp and garden where kids can play. The front deck a sun trap with sea views. Delicious cafe's within walking distance and a short drive to Ponsonby & the City Centre with buses running to both destinations from end of street.. We want you to experience our home like we do. Nothing is hidden away, it’s all there for you to enjoy. Seeing the sea every day is so relaxing. There is nothing better than a cuppa in bed looking out on the harbour - the boats, birds and wind surfers coming and going. Our home is off the main road, super quiet and one of the view places in Pt Chevalier that sits on a full site giving it the feeling of space and tranquility. The garden provides a shady area to lie on a bean bag and read a book well away from the hustle of the city. We encourage guests to pick herbs and vegetables from our extensive vegetable garden. We try keeping the environment in mind at all times. A compost bin in the garden. Refillable soaps and detergents. Quality linen and bedding items that breathe and last. We provide reusable shopping bags. You can choose your own bin liner or try going without. Linen and towels provided. Beach towels available if you need them but please wash and dry them before you depart. Our kids toys are always available for guests - please pack away in the right box before you leave. Guests have access to all areas except the garage (which is full of junk anyway :)) We are very happy to provide recommendations and will leave you a contact number to ask us anything while you are here to make your stay enjoyable. Pt Chevalier is a family friendly, safe and relaxed neighbourhood with lots of great cafes and two fantastic bakeries. This suberb has the closest beach to Auckland's city centre. Sitting on a peninsula we are surrounded by water and renown for kite surfing and paddle boarding. It's also an easy superb to walk and bike around. EATING AND DRINKING: JUST AROUND THE CORNER - The Pt Chevalier Cafe has incredible food, more pricey but a real treat. Ask for a double shot. 5 MINS WALK (Cnr Pt Chev Rd and Raymond St) Nick's caravan has great coffee, yummy pies, mussel fritters and samosas - over the road from William and Linda's Dairy where they do great rolled ice-creams. Friday nights you may also see some food trucks in this area which have all been delicious. (Pt Chevalier Bowling Club - Dignan St) This place is the local community gem, a huge area donated to the community where you can have a lovely meal and drinks at VERY reasonable prices). 10-15 MINS WALK (Along Pt Chev Road, half way back to shops) Check out "Coffee to wake the dead" and the "French Bakery" on Pt Chevalier Road for great coffee and delicious treats. We recommend the French Bakery's bacon butties. Francescas pizza is AMAZING - menu is in the post office box in kitchen. The Thai take away shop is also good. PT CHEVALIER SHOPS: Here you'll find a small Countdown, a post office, sushi, some 2-dollar shops and various cafes. For the best bakery in the city head to Daily Bread on Great North Road (park around the back). Sages Indian is delicious. THINGS TO DO AND SEE: Walk right around the peninsula at low tide. Fish off the rocks in Coyle Park. Hang out on Pt Chev beach. Take a picnic to Coyle Park and people watch on Saturday afternoon. Visit the Coyle Park playground. Play Bowls, Croquet or tennis at the lock Bowling and Tennis Club (Cheep Casual rates). Check out the Community Garden in the middle between the clubs. Park on Meola Road and walk South to the Zoo and Western Springs Park, or head North around the waterfront on a board walk that takes you right round to the renown Westmere Butcher and two great cafes including Catrox and the Sea Breeze Inn. Catch the tram, after seeing the aeroplanes at Motat to the Zoo or the other part of Motat. SHOPPING: There is a fantastic homeware shop called Ornament at 386 Pt Chevalier Road. If you are into any kind of water sport then NZ Boardstore is worth checking out - 5 Raymond St. If you like Opp Shopping there is one in the Pt Chev Mall and another at the Community Centre on Pt Chev Road. Ponsonby and Herne Bay shops are a 10min drive. Feel free to ask Ana if you are after something specific - happy to help. Buses run regularly from the end of our street. An UBER is about $15-20 NZD into the city. A cycleway runs along the edge of the North Western Motorway taking cyclists to and from the city. There is space for two cars in the driveway and it's safe to park on the street outside. Electric bike and kids outside toys available on request. We are very happy to have toilet trained dogs stay but they would need to be on a lead as our section is not secure. There are some lovely bush and sea walks nearby which I will provide maps of if interested.
