The Shelter

With wooden interior and carpeted floors with free standing fireplace, our accomodation is both spacious yet cosy. The master bedroom has a cabin feel to it with a comfy bed and views out onto farmland. The Loft is a spacious cosy area with low ceilings which the teenagers will love but tall people may not enjoy it as it's only about 1.75 cm at the highest point . large couches for watching netflix or relaxing on the deck. we are not set up for young children and think it's best suited to 8+ age With wooden interior and carpeted floors our accomodation is both spacious yet cosy. The master bedroom has a cabin feel to it with a comfy bed and dim lighting. The Loft is a spacious cosy area with low ceilings(175cm at the highest point and 150cm at lowest side). it's more suitable to kids/teens and adults that are happy to bend over when moving around up there. There are large couches for watching netflix or napping on or sit out on the deck and enjoy the farm views or in the winter enjoy our large free standing fire place that pumps out the heat. The Shelter has it's own parking area, there is room for 2 or 3 cars. As a former adventure tour guide I have a passion for meeting new people from both near and far and am happy to advise you on the best places to visit or take you for a tour of our farm, depending on the season of farming im happy to take you to view the cows being milked or feed new born calves if you are here in march/april when we are autumn calving. We would love to have as little or as much interaction as needed. We are close to the beaches, only 5 mins to Ohawe beach, and 30min to Opunake beach. Its only 30min to the egmont national part at dawson falls car park. New Plymouth is only 1hour drive away with so many great places to visit there. Hawera is only 9km from our house and has cafes, restaurants and a cinema and boasts the famous Tawhiti museum with is a must do while you are staying. Hollard gardens is only 20 mins drive and is a lovely place to take a walk or pack a picnic and have lunch here. There are buses running from hawera to New plymouth but Taranaki is best explored via car. There are plenty of great walks in the area, along coastal areas or up the mountain. we don't have tv reception but we do have chrome cast so you can cast movies to the TV if you have Netflix or something similar and a good selection of DVDs and DVD player set up in the loft so you can hangout in different zones or put a DVD on for the kids while you watch your own movie.
