Waters Edge Cottage

Riverside Cottage on the freshwater Burrum river, Torbanlea. lovely Self contained Cottage, air conditioning, ceiling fans, TV, free WiFi. Main bedroom has a queen bed, second bedroom has a double bed, and sunroom has a day bed. Cottage has a verandah with BBQ and fire pit in yard with wood supplied. Access to river with use of 2 fishing kayaks & 2 kids kayaks ,river has Barra and Bass, and a boat ramp downriver if bringing your own boat. River fishes for Barra & Bass The Cottage is on a 60 acre rural property, just 4.5 km off the Bruce Highway. It’s situated 50 mtrs along the river from the owners house. Very quiet and private. sheep, goats and chickens (free eggs). Complimentary fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables. 2km of well maintained dirt road to property (easily accessible by 2wd) 10 minutes to the town of Howard, which has supermarket, chemist , medical centre, bakery, butcher, cafe , milk bar and a great country pub (good pub meals and a courtesy bus if required). Within 30mins from Hervey Bay, Burrum Heads(15mins), Toogum, Childers and Maryborough. There is a train station in Howard, We can pick you up from the station and get your groceries if needed. Guests privacy is respected, hosts are always available for any assistance. We are considered locals to both Howard & Torbanlea, both have great pubs and friendly locals, Howard has a great Market the 1st Saturday of every month & the Flower and Garden shows in September. The Burrum Coal fest is held in July every year in Howard it's a must to see as is Brooklyn House, a large Heritage home renovated to take you back in time and is said to be haunted, here you can also enjoy a devonshire tea and scones on the spacious verandah. Just up the road only about 5 minutes is Bamboo Land a Tourism winning business is located on the same river as the Cottage, it really needs to be seen to be believed entry is free. Both Howard and Torbanlea pubs have buses that will pick you up outside the cottage and bring you home , times are in the cottage compendium . Howard & Maryborough have train stations , Marybough and Hervey Bay have the bus transits . Hervey Bay has also an Airport. Due to Covid restrictions thepub bus is temporarily out of action. Don’t forget to bring along swimmers surfboards or rings etc if you would like a swim in the river or dam... we have 2 adult and 2 child’s kayaks for guests to use on the river. Adult & Child life vests for use in the cottage , but can’t guarantee they will fit your child . Fishing rods are a must if you are here a few days... poppers and soft plastics are our choice. we have a very friendly kelpie × boxer who likes to say hi. Don't forget to bring a good torch for spotlighting at night always fun for the kids and adults. A telescope is great for those who like to stargaze..the sky here is immense. On the farm wander the orchard, say hi to the chickens and collect some eggs for you breakfast. Feed the goats who live right out front of your cottage , feed is supplied. Go for a bush walk, or Lobbying with the kids in the creeks. Birdwatchers will love it here, we have it all from the Channeled billed cuckoos to the blue kingfishers and many many more. For you writers out there it's a great place to get those creative juices flowing.
