Spacious Hampshire Cottage
Our very spacious cottage is the ideal base to explore the South Downs National Park. Perfect for days spent walking or cycling. Set in an area of outstanding beauty, West Meon has been voted the best village to live in the U.K. There is an excellent village pub, local village stores & cafe & butchers. Winchester, Petersfield, & Portsmouth are close-by. It's a semi-detached flint stone property with a pretty garden with play slide/swings/wendy house. *£30 cleaner fee additional. The house is set over 3 floors; Ground Floor consists of a Conservatory Playroom, Kitchen with Aga & kitchen table and chairs for 6, Smeg fridge, and dishwasher and Belfast sink, shower room with basin/loo, Utility Room with Belfast sink, washer/dryer, overhead drying wires and ironing board with iron, Sitting Room with open fire and a Porchway Entrance. 1st Floor has 3 Single Bedrooms, Family Bathroom with bath/shower, basin, loo. Top Floor Double Bedrom (set within the eaves) with a double bed & plenty of room for a crib (pls provide own) and kid's mattress /z-bed. Bathroom with bath, basin, loo. The stairs are steep, there is a handrail but care is needed, NB: no stair gates for children. Access to all areas of the house, with the exception of the office and master bedroom which wil be locked. We will be available to answer any questions by mobile, and help in any way. West Meon is a picturesque thriving village set in the South Downs National Park. The villlage pub The Thomas Lord is excellent and open for breakfast (weekends only) lunch and dinner. There is a local village shop with a cafe also very good. Access to the South Downs Way is approximately 15 minutes walk and access to the Meon Valley Trail is approximately 10 minutes walk. Petersfield is a 10 minutes drive, Winchester 18 minutes, and Portsmouth 25 minutes. Petersfield is a 10 minutes drive, Winchester 18 minutes, and Portsmouth 25 minutes. There is a bus stop in the village taking you to Petersfield, Winchester and surrounding areas. The nearest train station is Petersfield. There are fantastic walking routes, the South Downs Way and The Meon Meon Trail, maps are provided for your use. This property has steep stairs with narrow treads, there are handrails on all staircases but for elderly or very young it is not suitable. We do not have stair gates on the stairs. The top floor double bedroom is in the eaves, care is needed. The utility room has a lower door frame, care needed. The garden has a trampoline but this is not for the use of the guests. The house is on a 40 speed limit road but cars/bikers drive faster, you must keep the 5-bar front gates shut at all times to keep children safe. The garden has an apple tree which during the month of August attracts wasps, we strongly advise not staying here if you have a wasp allergy.
